The Machinedrum has achieved legendary status. The Machinedrum is the modern day 808 and the Analog rytm is the modern day 909. Hands down the best drum machines of our time 🙌🏽
@xaosm_os4 жыл бұрын
that makes absolutely no sense. 808 is an analog drum machine. it is responsible for styles like hiphop electro and other variants. 909 is a digital analog hybrid, more famous for house and techno. they are much more limited, but they crafted music styles at the time. Comparing technology that is separated by 30 years time is kinda absurd. Its like saying the oldschool pager of the 90s is my smartphone of today. Wait, what? Ye, exactly.

I'd really like elektron to actually show how you can use the machinedrum as a 16 track midi sequencer. There isn't a single demo of this and it's not brilliantly documented in the manual. In theory though this machine could be the centre of my computer free studio set up. But it's hard for me to visualise and plan on my own as an inexperienced midi user.
@mramerica4938 жыл бұрын
I don't even own one of these and I could probably explain it.. It's probably the exact same as an MPC when it comes to sequencing, so look at those videos and they will translate over.. It will just be channel based, and whatever channel you select (example: 1A) will be sequenced.. It's the same for any midi sequencer.
@nobodyneverknows7 жыл бұрын
those two are tottaly different seqencers. :)

@DaleGribble110 жыл бұрын
check out the korg electribe er-1 or the newer version of the same thing. some of the sounds he is making in the video remind me of sounds i made on my $200 electribe er-1. the machinedrum sounds 2-3x better (more crisp, less cartoony,more punchy pulse feeling sounds) but for 5x the cost. i like the cartoony weirdness of the electribe. make good use of the sequencer!!! also check out reason software and the korg moogslayer poly 800 modded synth for cheap cool stuff. the moogslayer can literally destroy speakers and ear drums with the frequencies it can hit. get moogslayer with filters and mod knobs if you can. reason software can do amazing things but its reverbs suck in my mind and ive had people able to identify its 'sound' i think due to it sounding so digital. but i use older versions. reason is like a drum machine and 3 synths full of patches and samples and knobs, nearly unlimited in every sense of the word. Reason and a usb midi controller keyboard will work on any laptop that has a 1.8ghz or better processor w/2gb ram. i always avoided the cheaper celeron or sempron processors though, but they may be able to do the job.
@DaleGribble110 жыл бұрын
you can get reason and a midi controller keyboard with knobs and buttons so you can control the drum machine or synths. you just program (takes 2 mouse clicks) the knobs and pads and buttons to the knobs pads and buttons in Reason. for hands on hardware go with the electribe, for unlimited sounds and the ability to make old or newer sounding music and to be able to completely eq and mix the music and output whole composed songs id go with reason and a midi controller. another problem with the electribe is that if you make difficult/elaborate song compositions like i did, where you use all the instruments parts available per song, you have to copy the song to another song number and when you change over from say track 25 to track 26, even though its the same song the device has to cut any sounds off to go to the next track, in this case from track 25 to track 26. for fun and knob twiddling go with the electribe. for full awesome unlimited compositions and songs go with Reason or another software synth. both are great. im currently trying to talk myself out of a Tempest. i feel that machine gives me a bit of both electribe and reason and 909 and anything else. hands on and elaborate. also check out vintagesynth.org for ratings and prices, info and even to buy some of these devices from other users.

yes i can tell you a nice one!!! it's the LXR Drumsynth it cost's about 280$ , you have to assembly it yourself, but when it's finished, i my eyes, it's the better machinedrum! it's also digital, has also the sampling ability, has also parameter locks, and live record ability, it even looks a bit like a michinedrum, has only 6 parts instead of 16, but for me, the sound of it is better! i'm considering myself to buy one, but i'm scared of the assembly a bit....
@SoulfulElectricity10 жыл бұрын
LXR Drumsynth (280,- bucks digital drumsynth, like really close to this one) Akai Rythm Wolff (200,- bucks analog drumsynth) MfB 503 (about 150,- to 200,- ebay street price, analog drumsynth)

only one limit though: 64 step sequencer is ridiculous. 128 steps is a the minimum and that's why most of machines out there just are gnah. LXR instead

@Donal Finn All of their current products have trig conditions though, which essentially extends the sequencer to 512 step. Sadly, not on the machinedrum or monomachine though.

@frejgun9 жыл бұрын
thats where you would tame the sounds an shape them in the way you want
@lemonslice22339 жыл бұрын
+frejgun True, if you want to use it as a regular drum machine and don't want to go wild with the tweakage, you can. Within a certain range of parameters it can sound normal, and even sound good enough to justify the price of the non-UW version, especially considering the awesome interface and internal and external sequencing capabilities. Just don't expect it to be an accompaniment tool as there are much better things for that, usually cheaper too.
