Element 3D is actually 3DS Max, but the extention for After Effects! So now you dont need 3DS Max anymore, cuz you can work the same in After Effects with Element 3D! Andrew Kramer basically made 3DS Max as a plugin for After Effects! Extremely useful!

Hey Andrew, just want to say fantastic work on this plug-in. I purchased this on day one, and it's been incredible. I work for a video game production studio, and using the assets our artists have produced to then utilizing Element 3D to create inner office and business to business promotional videos has been made extremely easy. I unfortunately can't mention any projects as of yet due to the 5 NDA's I've signed, but I'll be more than happy to send things your way once I can. Looks great!

Did you guys work together with Adobe on integrating Element 3D into After Effects or is this the provided out-of-the-box SDK integrated with your own openGL rendering engine? :) I worked as a games graphics developer for a few years and know (to a fairly small degree probably), how much work must have gone into it - it's really impressive :D

He does talk about it on his website. He worked on the titles for Fringe, and both recent Star Trek movies for Bad Robot (JJ Abrams). He also did the brilliant title for Person of Interest. Go to the videocopilot website and read his blog posts for the details.

I know that, but not only DigitalDomain makes VFX for movies! I'm actually saying that he, using VideoCopilot, to be a DigitalDomain, with Andrew Kramer as VFX Supervisor and coordinator. But yet, he is indeed unique! He is good, but doesn't share his work with Hollywood! Awesome dude!

Cinema 4D is what I'd use if I wanted to do any dynamic physics simulations and we are still going to need a 3d program to put cracks in our element models. :)

Element 3D is a 3D engine its not a model creator so the model is from 3DS max and he rendered it in ELEMENT :)

My point was that you can't model anything in element! It's a great bridge between 3d programs and AE, but it can't replace a 3d program.

This is jaw dropping. Forgive my complete ignorance on the 3D side of it, but once you have your 3D model (downloaded from the web) all you need is After Effects with Element 3D to make shots like this? (And a heck load of skill and talent!)

Andrew Kramer does work in the business. Bad Robot Optical is HIS company. Almost every J.J. Abrams film uses Bad Robot for it's VFX work and that usually means Andrew helps out.

VC is an inc. Demon cam is an application for iPhone made by them. That is why i think he may not own everything at video copilot.

If this guy is so young and can create what companies can't, why deosn't he sign contracts with companies such as 20th Century Fox, Universal Studios, Columbia Pictures or Warner Bros.? He can produce, direct and can be an extremely efficient at VFX! Imagine a crap movie redirected by Andrew Kramer! Taking examples as Komodo vs Cobra, Birdemic or such! He can create full-time high-quality movies within 0$ budget! This guy is the most amazing young producers of all times!

What would be the point? Element wasn't available to the public at that point, and they could easily have cancelled it before the release, so why mention it? I'm not really seeing the issue you have. Do you not think they used Element for the shot?

because comnpared to the products those companies use Videocopilot is just kids play. It is amazingly good at what it does! and really easy to use... but professional film makers do not use this. (maybe 1 or 2).
