UpNorth AirGunner | Airgun Hunting

Күн бұрын

I had the opportunity recently to test out the Element Optics Titan 5-25x56 scope. This thing has a TON of awesome features with high quality and well built internals to include stainless steel guts vs. brass like you will find in many other scopes. The stainless steel internals on all Element Optics Scopes will keep the clicks nice and sharp for years to come. Also, the 34mm tube gives the shooter all kinds of vertical adjustment for long range shooting. Over 80 MOA in the Element Optics Titan scope!
Also in this video, I am announcing the UpNorthAirGunner Corona (Not Virus) Bottle Cap Challenge! How far can you hit a bottle cap with an airgun? Post your photos or video to social media and tag me at UpNorthAirgunner on Facebook or Instagram or KZbin - use the hashtag #AirgunBottleCapChallenge. Let's see how far you can go!
As a global community of airgunners, we are all going through challenging times and being asked to socially distance ourselves and be in isolation. Just today, Michigan announced a shelter in place order. In that announcement, the Governor recommended to stay in your home, but also to get outside and just be smart about it. Keep your distance from others and away from groups. That is what I will be doing in the woods and on the shooting range.
Let's stay connected through our great sport of airgunning. We will get through this and can get outside to maintain our sanity and kill a few Corona bottle caps along the way (or any other bottle cap of your choice).
Here are the specs from Element Optics, but I can tell you first hand - this IS A GAME CHANGER!
Meet the Game Changer from Element Optics: The TITAN. Like the Helix, the Titan puts your money where it matters, with precision-engineered internals and a turret system superior to other products in the same price class. To make things even better, we’ve gone one step ahead and given the Element Optics Titan a 34mm tube and ED glass.
The 34mm tube allows for a greater elevation/windage range when dialing for those extreme distance shots, and the 56mm Objective lens with ED glass provides you with an ultra-sharp, clear image with a large field of view. The turret system has been upgraded from your stock-standard sporting optic to feature stainless steel internals for resistance against wear-and-tear when dialling regularly - something that modern shooting disciplines require.
The tool-free turrets and zero-stop mechanism give you high end features without breaking the bank, and the First Focal Plane reticle means the reticle subtensions remain true at any magnification. We’ve introduced quality control checks to give you peace of mind when taking that 1000 yard shot, and if something goes wrong, our Element Optics Platinum Lifetime Warranty has you covered!
* 34mm Main Body Tube
* Illuminated, First Focal Plane Reticle
* Aircraft Grade Aluminium
* Side Parallax: 15yds-Infinity
* ED Glass for reduced chromatic aberration and improved sharpness
* Tool-Free Resettable Turrets with 10 MRAD / 25 MOA per Revolution
* Upgraded Stainless Steel Turret Mechanism
* Hard Mechanical Zero-Stop
* Removable Magnification Throw Lever
* Waterproof, Fogproof, Shockproof & Nitrogen Purged
* Sunshade, Lens Cloth & Rubber Lens Covers included

I’m accustomed to high-end scopes, and just tried a Athlon Chronus and found it poor in terms of clarity (e-e, color and resolving), and so many other aspects. Maybe if it was 1/3 at about $700 and going on an airgun.

Is it worth trying one of their Nexus scopes? I do ELRI, out to about 2K - 3.5K meters. I tried a $1,900 Athlon Chronus, but its e-to-e clarity, contrast, resolving power, etc was mediocre at best- plus it was a somewhat thin avg grade aluminum, rather than steel or high grade material. Is an element anywhere comparable to the German, Austrian or other scopes we train or operate with?

@@gregs9218 What do you recommend? I have some high-end/high-priced German and Austrian scopes, and some Japanese that I like better in some ways that are a lot less money. We got two Nexus 5-20x50 1C MOA... At 1500 bucks it is damn near ( in every facet it's 95% of the Beast F1 scopes that are 4000 dollars) our bread and butter NF 5-25x56 F1 my hubby and I shoot on our Extreme long range powder burner competition rigs. It's 95% the F1 in every way and 1500 bucks, it's an amazing optic, flawless tracking, amazing glass (glass quality competes with anything on the market not just at its price point) the scopes are superb and this is coming from two certified optics snobs. We mounted the two Nexus on both or Impact MKII .25 700mm slug guns and just ordered two more for our Poly barreles HMX1000 LRT .22s. These are replacing Night Force SHV 5-20x56s that are currently on the RAWs. We have 4 Titans that are back ordered that will be going on 2 .25 Red Wolf's and on 2 Crown continuum in .22. We have played with the Titans and can say without zero doubt the glass is better then the SHV.. If tracking remains as solid over time as the SHVs then titan is a superior scope at 400+ dollars less. Now i will say this, in no way am I comparing the Nexus to the F1 is a whole im simply stating that the Nexus is damn damn good and at 1500 dollars provides 95% the performance that a 4000+ dollar scope provides. Will we be putting Nexus scopes on our ELR rigs to replace F1s? No BUT would i put one on a ELR build instead of a F1? Maybe... It depends on what exactly the rig is setup for. The Nexus is a world class optic in every way yet is not priced at world class optics prices. When we first got to play with a Nexus and was asked what we thought the scope costs hubby and I agreed it was a 2500+ dollar scope and was totally stunned when told it was a 1500 dollar scope. That puts only slightly more expensive then a SHV and it's a LOT LOT LOT more scope then a SHV. I do wish the scopes provided more then 80 minutes of elevation. That is the only thing that I wished was different and would allow the scope to perform with PMIIs and F1s. The 120 minutes the F1 is capable of is a huge deal when we are pushing the limits of .338L, .375CT and so on and so forth. In the PCP world having 100+ minutes of elevation is ultra important to. Now days MOA at 200y is doable and we are putting lead on steel at insane ranges with slugs. Element optics are killing the game, opening up world class optics to a lot of people that normally wouldn't be able to own world class optics. There is no company out there right now that can touch the quality of the Nexus at 1500 NO ONE. The Titan can't be touched at its price neither the only thing to be seen on the Titan is will the tracking hold up over lots of large adjustments and not get sloppy over time. We have a couple SHVs that are a couple years old that was used on 6mm BR bench guns that we used to shoot P-dogs and we always dial elevation so they seen 1000s of adjustments and the tracking accuracy today is as perfect as it was on day one... Those scopes seen many very large adjustments and the repeatability is perfect and when you dial in 13.25 minutes you get 13.25 minutes and when you return to zero it returns to zero. If the Titans turrets perform over time like the SHVs turrets then the Titan is the scope of the year... At 800 dollars it can't be touched optically by anything around it's price. We did test them and the tracking is wholly repeatable and dead on but that was a new scope and the turrets haven't had time to develop slop so only time will tell on that but out the box... The Nexus is absolutely superb at 1500 and the Titan from what we have seen of it (until we get our units that are back ordered) is an amazingly good scope at its price and deff preforms above its price point...

I'm confused you buy a 1200.00 to 1300.00 dollar scope and all you hunt or target shoot at 5 power. The scope magnification is from 5 to 20 power that's a wast. Then your comparing it to nightmare, first how can you night force optics have some of the best glass money can buy. Now if your comparing it to night force yet a 2200.00 scope why didn't you show the glass threw the scope let us be the judge. Im not knocking Japanese glass but if I could see for my self it would better if your doing a test. Then you go on about brass in the internals will get mushy later on and that is true but when you were showing us the cap and the rezero of the scope what do we see, brass internal, i know what brass looks like. Then your showing us viewers how the clicks are and it perfect every time the zero is so nice I noticed you passing zero now I don't now if the cap is off and you need to move it but to me it looked like half a click. So it will never zero. There is one more thing if you are trying to sell this scope and you want to impress me I would show how tight the tracking is every ten yards and let me see how clear the lenses are and never complain this class scope to a nightforce cause you will loose every time oh and your right the dirty rectical is way better cause if you are reading wind I know I would like a hold over point wouldnt you. They got 1300.00 dollar price on this scope, in my opinion it in the bracket of 5 to 600 dollar scope and I'm being nice. I'm sorry I know I was hard on you but when your down range your life depends on your equipment that's how I rate scopes. Whoraaaaa
