Күн бұрын

English language learners -- especially Koreans and some others -- can improve distinguishing the [dʒ] "dg", [z], and [ʒ] "zh" consonant sounds in English to increase clarity.
This video's a little long (thorough!), but it's worth watching to learn about all the ways out mouths move to make sounds.
Enjoy!

Even as a native english speaker, I've been having trouble with dʒ and ʒ, so this helped out a lot. Thank you!

Yeah I know right? It wasn't until I looked up the phonetic symbols that I even realised that dʒ and ʒ were different sounds so I might have actually been pronouncing some words wrong my whole life and I speak English natively.

It's amazing what I, as a native English speaker, take for granted. It seems so simple to me. I'm surprised you didn't mention tongue placement. It's impossible to produce the correct puff of air for 'judge' without your tongue hitting the roof of your mouth. I guess it's a little refreshing to not see a Prononciation video mention it, though.

@DarckAngel023

First, I wanna thank you for the video. But also I would like you answer my doubt. When I speak I exaggarate the d3 sound, but I hear when native people speak they change it at the end of the word. For example: badge sounds to me like badch, judge like judch breadge as breadch or so. Am I mishearing them or there is a real change? But at the end, now I came to think I think that they just make lighter the pronunciation making it smoother or reduce it the accent to avoid make this sound so strong. Let me know if I am wrong pleaese.
