Being driven by air gunners, I'm curious if these scopes have a shallow depth of field like for field target shooting or a generous depth of field as needed to read mirage at longer ranges.

Thanks for making this video, Matt! At first, I thought the prices of the two scopes were swapped! ...Titan has higher magnification, & bigger turrets & tube, for 1/2 the price? But now, thanks to you, I know what's up! I bought a WildCat MKIII & Titan scope from Utah Airguns a few months ago & everyone was talking about how light the gun is, & I was like, "what is everyone talking about? ...this gun is a freaking tank!" Ha ha ha! ...that Titan doubled the weight of the gun, but I love it! It's the best scope I've ever used! Peace!

WHAT SCOPE WOULD YOU USE ON THE FX IMPACT 25CAL FOR HUNTING AND BENCH REST SHOOTING AND THINKING ABOUT COMPLETING IN MATCHES
@karlm10 Жыл бұрын
When you just touch the Turrets, or the Parallaxeknob you just feel the Quality. Smooth as silk accurate. Also the Used Glastype is extreme good. In reallife, that means not a perfect bright sunny day and you dial up magnification, there is a loss of brightness but it is in very good acceptable range. Iam used to S&B PMII Standards and the Nexus is absolutly head to head with the Image quality, but for 50% off the Price. Very very lightweight and conpact. So if you want a real good lightweight compact fantastic imaging Scope, for a extreme fair Price the Nexus ist the choice. I use it on a AR-10 SPR .308 simply perfect up to 1000m in not laboratory-Benchrest conditions, that means carrying around and beeing flexible.

@commonsense5709 Жыл бұрын
You should at least personally handle and look through both Nightforce NX8 and Nexus at the same time before making such expensive purchases. Nightforce has a long history of being reliable and durable scopes. Element is still relatively new. If you go for the Nightforce NX8, their 4-32x50 is much better choice compared to the 2.5-20x50 NX8. Personal preference, I prefer the 8x zoom magnification over 4x zoom scopes for more useable range of magnification. I also prefer 6x zoom magnification over 4x zoom as well. Just for having more useable range of magnification that gives the extra edge in the field. For example, I'd prefer to use my 4.5-27x Athlon Ares BTR instead of my 6-24x Athlon Midas Tac based on this reason and both have similar weight and equally superb glass. I also prefer my Tract Toric ELR 4.5-30x56 with 6x zoom over my two previous Tract Toric LR 4-20x50 with 5x zoom which I ended up parting with and prefer the 6x zoom and higher magnification capability as another example. The higher magnification Tract Toric ELR 4.5-30x had noticably nicer image quality compared to the 4-20x at mid magnification when they were compared side by side at 20x as well. If you go with the higher top magnification you can always back the magnification down at any time.
@commonsense5709 Жыл бұрын
The Nexus is $300 less than the Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 when you buy from certain dealers that offer good discounted prices when you call them or make offer from places such as Scopelist and Eurooptics. Their difference in price isn't 1/3 it's only a couple hundred bucks.

Very good and clear explanation, thanks for that. To be honest, i now understand the difference but i do challenge if almost double the price Nexus is bringing enough to the table to make that difference pay off. As you say, some situations maybe and clearly when money is not a big priority. Getting the price lowered on the Nexus and getting it a bit closer to the Titan in my feeling will get the Nexus the better papers overall. Anyway, Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy new year from the Netherlands.

When a seller has to spend time explaining why you pay twice the money for a marginally better scope, and keeps bringing up the size and weight as the main point along with man hours developing it. I feel like I was talked into it. Now I wish I'd bought the Titan. At least I'd have scope lens covers instead of a useless scope coat. BTW, I asked about buying a set of lens covers for my nexus. $129.99 but hey! You get free shipping. Sorry Matt, the nexus isn't twice Value of the titan. It's just my opinion ,others may see it differently.

That is unfortunately the “law of diminishing returns”, yes there is not a massive difference between the form and function of the two, but the small improvement is challenging to achieve and requires a lot of expertise, time and effort.

That's why many smart people do their homework before taking any expensive plunge. Go to your gun range make friends and ask to look through their scopes before making any decisions to buy anything. Most importantly, compare them with other different brands of similarly priced scopes at the same time. It actually saved me lots of disappointment by doing this.

Tract toric 4-20x50 is the best
@comeonsense20222 жыл бұрын
That Tract Toric is a very nice Japanese made scope with German Scott glass. I had 2 of then and later upgraded to their 4.5-30x56 and their 4-20x50 are priced closer to $1000 with law enforcement or military discount too. Still a fantastic value at $1294 regular price. I think the Brownells 5-25x has always been the best deal out there for a quality Japanese made scope even for its $999 regular price.
@commonsense57092 жыл бұрын
I was looking to buy an Element Nexus until a good friend of mine insisted I look through his cheaper Tract Toric 4-20x50 and Athlon Ares ETR before spending $1500 on a Nexus. He had a Nexus first and got rid of it after doing an extensive side by side comparison with the Toric and Ares ETR. He said it was night and day difference in regards to the optical quality and turrets. I would have loved to look through both to see what the big difference was for myself but he already parted with the Nexus and kept the Ares ETR and Toric. I looked through both of them and the Toric was still nicer.
@commonsense5709 Жыл бұрын
I ended up parting with my 4-20x50 Torics and prefer the 4.5-30x56 Toric ELR which had much nicer image quality and a lot more total elevation travel. I also bought a Nightforce NX8 4-32x50. Enuff said.

Still the question is that why did you reduce the magnification on the nexus by 5 times ?
@lankymk3 жыл бұрын
Officially, don't know. Unofficially, maybe it helps to keep cost lower because the Nexus will cost notably more to produce. I would suggest, the smaller front end usually means a smaller max mag (general rule, most manufacturers seem to do this, assumably for the following reason) plus more mag isn't necessary better, the titan at 25 mag has a 2.24 exit pupil but the Nexus at 20 mag has a 2.5 exit pupil. Be interesting what the official reason is.

Unfortunately most sub $1000 scopes are more than likely to be Chinese made. If you are specifically wanting sub $1000 non Chinese made scopes, the Japan made Brownells 5-25x for $999 regular price and the various much cheaper priced SWFA SS, Clearidge (very affordable Japan made scopes direct from Clearidge or cheaper from eBay) or Phillipine made Vortex PSTs gen 2 on sale almost half off at Midway now for $599-$679 regularly $899-$999 if you can make do with a 20 or 25 yard minimum side focus. There's also the Sightron STACs from Camera Land for half price sale now and made in Phillipines too and the ones without the zero stop are on sale for super cheap.

If you want non biased scope reviews on both Chinese and Japanese made scopes, I'd recommend watching Panther Hollow on KZbin. He is a dealer for many different brands of scopes he reviews and compares them directly to each other and has scope cam videos of their image quality for side by side comparisons. He even rated some scopes he did comparisons with that doesn't even sell or make any profit from much better than the brands he actually sells. That's really honorable to me and worth watching based on honesty.
