From Canada: In Canada we don't have elephants, but I am thinking that this Railway route could use an elevated viaduct to provide a tunnel underneath for the elephants to pass. I avoided the idea of an underpass because I know India has a monsoon season and it would not be of value of it created a drainage problem or flooded. This would make for better coexistence and less delays for the trains without being cruel to animals. It looks to me tha the elephant really only cared about the vegetation he was foraging in to eat. So let us think of respecting the elephants also!

@@KakanSarkar Re hi from Canada: Construction and infrastructure development costs anywhere. It is unfortunate that India does not have the full measure of wealth that they need to develop, but if the Indian government can provde the people with the educative (in the sense of life learning and sociology) they so badly need amongst the poor, they might well have a real growth soliution for more than the elephants. I have a family of neighbours here who are Indian. they came last year fro near Delhi. the father is a Tandoori cook in a local Indian restaurant, but as I tell him, he needs to train himself to do the "cooking business" more than just the cooking. that is where the money is. When his wife and daughter (then aged 4 1/2) camer to Canada, the wife spoke limited English. The father speaks what we might know as "Functional English" that is enough to be able to work, but not where "Polished English" is needed. the latter apples where a lot of negotiation is key to a profession. It is also critical for a person going into their own business, which often can be the better option for some people but also requires a skill set that not everyone has or would espouse. In Quebec, thanks to the infamous Bill 101, immigrant children whose native language is not English are obliged to go to French school, which just adds to their struggles growing up. Depending on both the parents and the child, they may be forward looking enough to go to English classes in addition, that makes good sense, "When there's a will theres'a way." One resource that is available on the web is "Paul" and his "The Langfocus Channnel" Paul is Canadian and comes from Vancouver on the Pacific coast. However I would not suggest that area for new immigrants as the cost of living there is extremely high. Nonetheless my neighbours' wife has recently given birth to a son. When he gets older, I foresee him growing up with a dual culture as so many second generation children do. That is great! they often turn circles around Children of Canadian parentage. It salso has come to my recent attention that India's government is taking a stand against what hads been called China's "Sugar Daddy Diplomacy". This is a good move, albeit fraught with added struggle. China is simply too big to be safe in the affairs of other nations. India can "make it" if they try hard enough but also have to be smart about it, and think, think, think! Eventually they can gain the control of their country they need, and let all others respect their sociological right to do so, but in all that there is a lot of deep learning to be done each for each , in dialectic balance, "all for one and one for all". Next, what can you, and all who see this, do each for each, to further the understanding I proffer here? Are there those in your neighbourhood who do not have internet access? If so can you get them to see this on your machine in a "co-session" or two? If that happens and there are others who have internet access, they can also copy the strategy. Of course, I can't speak Hindi or any of the Indic languages, (but I do speak English, French and Spanish), hence thius need the Indian people AKA "grass roots" to self-educate themselves in all their huge numbers. Also it is possible amongst the numbers that there may be some individuals or families who can afford to get internet service, or arrange a sharing setup, however they may have to do some of it clandestinely to prevent others who seek to perpetuate ignorance and dependence by censorship! This is a last choice but if oppression leves no room for human progress, it can befall as a necessity. Also beware of the scammers that hide in the cracks of India. They work for themselves, not for India. One needs to be "street-wise" to "know thine enemy" and so (in that way) by co-vigilance, purge those blights from their country. So, "Keep on trucking" i.e pushing for a better India, and that also helps push for a better himanity everywhere.

Thanks to utsav tiwari for such a nice explanation, because even I too thought the pilot should have crossed casually blowing a big horn. but after watching the full video I understood that the elepgant is under musth and the symptoms so apparently visible from 1:18 to 1:42. I appreciate the courage & patience of the pilot

Many comments miss the truth of this encounter... that it is a blessing and wonder to be near a wild elephant. I would give almost anything for the chance to be near an elephant, and it would be a privilege to pause on my journey and wait for them to be off the tracks. Elephants are amazing creatures. 💕
