Elephant rescued from land mine

August 30, 2011 Pornsawan have transport to hospital to surgery. This video we would like to show how the amazing work of the vet team to treat the land mine elephant injured. Thanks to doctor Sittideth Mahasawangkul and his vet team from Elephant Hospital at Thai Elephant Conservation Center [TECC] for your dedicate and hand work to save Pornsawan life. From today she will be with her family at Elephant Nature Park.

What a horrible injury ! Why on earth would Myanmar Buddhists plant land mines? I thought they were banned! Thank you to the vets at the hospital, the helpers and Lek for saving this beautiful elephant and giving her a forever home. God Bless all of you!

What an absolutely horrific injury! :( I'm curious though, as she seems still not quite able to put her weight on her injured foot if it would not be possible to create some type of prosthetic that could mimic her foot pad so as not to require she put weight on what will likely forever be an extremely tender area of her leg, since her foot was essentially completely blow off?

This breaks my heart seeing this hurt done to beatiful ponsawan she is so brave going through this injury, now 10yrs on she is happy and nanny to yinndee who she adores and he adores her when they not clashing and he doing his karate kicks. Very powerful reminder life and limbs are fragile and shows love kindness and a herd/family. Us human and elephants have so much in common even though we different species we could learn a lot from how elephants treat each other

That happy music was supposed to signal the viewers that the story had now shifted to the positive, that her foot was now nearly healed over the surface, that she was able to be moved to ENP. Her foot was the focus, not people's skin color or culture. Does Lek seem to you guys to be bigoted or racist?? Is not Lek's focus always on the elephant and what they need??
