That lion never would've tried to attack, they're not suicidal. They don't attack elephants without a pride, it's suicide otherwise. They only target calfs / wounded / sick elephants.

Those trunks are so powerful. Years ago in India I went to an elephant sanctuary and they lifted me up to ride them as a 200 lb guy like it was nothing with their trunk, and that was the females and Indian elephants (much smaller than African). That Lion 100% knew to bail at the right time.

We have a local rescue for elephants. They have done an amazing job giving them hundreds of acres to roam. What’s amazing is the memory of the elephants. It’s true. They remember certain guests who return regularly. The hours are limited as they don’t like them disrupted too often but it’s a great experience. Most incredible animals.
