Elephants enjoy the snowfall at Reid Park Zoo

A herd of elephants play in the snow at Reid Park Zoo in Tucson, Arizona. The young elephant calf, Penzi, enjoyed watching the snow and rolling around in the slushy mud with her sister, Nandi. A storm moved through the area on Jan. 26, 2021 and brought some brief snowfall to southern Arizona.

What the H! Elephants are not designed for cold weather! They are trying to wallow, etc. in ice cold mud. This is not good!

Elephants should be in warm shelter during cold weather. On fact, in weather we consider "chilly", they often are given blanket-type jackets. Obviously, this Tucson Arizona zoo was not prepared for cold weather. I hope they do better next time.

The snow only lasted about 1 hour maybe and didn't even stick to the ground...and yes they do have sanctuary...its a zoo by god!!
