It's about Estepario defending another social media drummer, who indeed fucked up, but got a disproportionate amount of hate, guy is obviously very fast and talented, but the internet crushed him. This video is about Estepario standing up to his class - that's how I read it.

No he was blown up and slandered by Craig reynolds for his audition, which he said was a cover he did from years prior, Ricardo merlini never said his video wasn’t edited. The problem is a slew of insecure self conscious untalented drummers clinged on to Craig Reynolds’s hit piece and took it at face value 😭 that’s the issue. That you guys believe anything you hear and you’re willing to completely believe a natty or not drum video from a failed drummer. Craig Reynolds’s hasn’t been in one band ANYBODY KNOWS, he’s never been invited to drumeo and not to mention Ricardo merlini is paid quite handsomely to teach rooms full of drummers he is very famously regarded as one of the worlds fastest drummers. It's already been found that this auditon of his is edited. Parts of it just straight up don't line up with what he is playing. Which is weird because in other videos of his, he CLEARLY CAN play this type of stuff. I honestly wish this whole drama of his didn't happen, hopefully he comes clean and does an actual raw audio. As much as I love the positivity, and as good of a drummer as he very clearly is, there very clearly is some undisclosed fuckery going on with some of his videos. Not for one second do I like the idea of music as a sport, and I'm for all the studio magic in the world, but providing we're honest about it. All of these musician creators set the example for young upcoming musicians, and we're seeing the same thing with guitar where people are hitting the technical limitations of what they can reasonably do, and so because we're engaged in some musicianship arms race, people are starting to just lie, And then, once you've lied a few times, you've done it too many times to go back on it and it just becomes part of the process.

The amount of young drummers out there that will watch riccardos videos and want to be like him is insane, its creating an impossible hope that will end with less people wanting to play real drums when they can just edit and be better. I could practice for 20 years straight, i will and nobody ever will be as accurate as gridded drums. Its the same concept as showing little girls supermodels or teenage boys juiced up bodybuilders, He doesnt want to be good he wants to be inhumanely good.
