Why isn't the osg mounted on the lift car (with some interface to the gliders, like rack and pinion or even magnets on a wheel between 2 copper rails in lift shaft, or something like that)? Mechanically it would be more safe as you would not need any extra cable to motor room, and the brake system would then be completely self contained on the lift car, with the osg directly mechanically connected to the brakes without any cable.
