Thank you for these video/still photo URL's. the traction machine is a marvel in engineering of it's own. Elevated above the floor, the controller is interesting.

open shaft with in a flight of stairs? I don't believe the building was a high rise, over 24 landings probably a geared traction machine I can see it has 1:1 roping may have a defector sheave on the counterweight side.
