I bought the hydrating version in Medium Peach (against my better judgment--I'm fair and choose the lightest or second lightest in most other concealers, but the original 16-hour Camo skews so light that Medium Peach is the right shade for me). Even though the names are the same, Medium Peach in Hydrating is waaaay darker and warmer than the original. It's very annoying that the same name is definitely not the same color in the two formulas.

I loved the coverage of the camo but damn even on my oily skin it was SO drying and I already have a myriad of lines under my eyes just naturally, I didn't need MORE from my concealer. Might give the hydrating a go though, or even mix the two!!

@@rianne_9042 I've never tried shape tape (too expensive) but the camp just sucked the life out of my under eye and left it a saharan wrinkled mess. It's a shame because the coverage was REAL

The shades are definitely different between camo vs hydrating. I am medium sand in hydrating , but med beige in camo.

Love the camo concealer! It's the first concealer that hasn't creased on me. It does dry down darker. A little goes a long way and it sets super fast ;work fast! I set mine with powder and I have no creases on my normal 60 yr old skin.

I have oily skin myself, specifically around my t-zone area. I tend to moisturize really well, add primer, foundation, concealer and set lightly then use setting spray. I don’t find a problem with the camo one in terms of dryness + love the coverage! Works well for me. Haven’t tried the hydrating one though. Thanks for comparison! Maybe I’ll give it a go.

Omg for $6 I love this concealer. I dab with my finger a little Mac fix+ prep and prime setting spray and takes away the dehydration. A little trick I learned.

I have the camo I love it. I use my fingers and it works for me since I have oily skin and under eyes. Sometimes no concealer is also pretty! Especially on you ☺️I usually use it for a glam look or when I want to look awake. Awesome review, happy to see you again, you’re one of my favorites!

Yup. The two vary drastically for the same shad name. I don’t know why they just didn’t use different names. In the original camo concealer, Light Sand is perfect for me. Can’t use it, it’s too drying. In the hydrating version, Light Sand is noticeably dark and orange on me, but Fair Beige works much better- it’s a little pink but blends in to a good match/not too brightening. I’m enjoying to hydrating one as of now.

It's so true about under eyes. I actually find myself just using a sheer application of foundation and calling it a day. I don't want highlighted under eyes anymore.

I use the 16hr camo concealer to cover blemishes and it’s so good, dries down and doesn’t budge on me at all, would definitely not go anywhere near my under eyes with it though as it’s too dense and drying for the under eye area. I have oily skin btw. 😀

That's actually a really good point! I feel like I don't test many concealers for my blemishes because I'm so in love with the MUFE concealer but I'll have to test this one!

I love the hydro camo concealer but finding my color is not easy. I bought the original one in fair warm and it was white so I bought the hydro one in the next shade up fair beige. Well since the names don’t match the shades in both it hard. the hydro fair beige is a great skin match but under eyes I like a shade lighter. I don’t know if I need farm warm or fair rose in the hydro one. 😢

I have the 16h camo concealer, and the colour is too light for me, but if I pt on my concealer before my foundation, I can tap the excess of what is left on my foundation brush under my eyes, and this makes the colour much better without caking on too much product :)

Great review! I had the camo concealer and it was hard to blend; it dries so quickly. I once wore it to the library (before COVID) and a couple of librarians saw me and chuckled in front of me. lol I will definitely be picking up the hydrating one 😄

Have you tried that hack where you put one dot of concealer under your eye (below your tearduct) and a line of concealer on the outside of your eye (under where you would put your wing of eyeliner)?

You're definitely right about the shades not matching. ELF has a chart with the shade matches between the regular and the hydrating version.

So one big thing with buying these, that I found accidentally on elf's website and really wish that this information was on the packaging, is that you're supposed to judge the shade of the hydrating one by the bottle, but the 16 hr by the color swatch on the box because it will dry darker than it appears in the bottle. pretty important info that they choose to hide on their website that i could only find by a google image search for swatches 🙄

12 hours later the camo looked better! I struggle with this because it's so drying but it definitely stays on where ANY other concealer melts off especially in heat.. the coverage is just not there in the hydrating..

I tried both , the original was too drying . The hydrating never dries down and stays tacky . I don't like to set my under eyes. On days I am home I use a damp beauty blender with the hydrating . It's a little better , but less coverage. Also the hydrating one creases . I like the Milani a lot better then either of elf's. I want to try the Revlon candid next.

All the shades of 16 hr camo and hydrating are different even though they have the same names. 16 hour camo is a lot fairer/lighter than hydrating.
