When it comes to a formula, I don’t think that anyone is ripping anyone else off. They still had to put the time and energy into developing the product. If it was so easy to do, they would have pushed out a product years ago. I have an issue when companies copy a unique color story or creative packaging. Also, there are many (like myself) who just always stayed away from that product because of the price. I don’t think elf will be taking many customers from CT, but they will capture a different piece of the market. Kudos for them.

Agreed. There is no way I could afford the Charlotte Tillbury product and, I can't stress this enough, I would never pay that for that product but that's just me and to each it's own. As long as a company isn't exactly copying and things like u referred to then I don't have too much of an issue with this. I'm just glad that now there is something similar that more people can afford.

@@sherryelle225 I bought a lot from CT in the past and hand on heart, a lot of them were duds : concealer creasing, eyeshadow hardpan like crazy and not pigmented, foundation meh! Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's good

It's makeup. They saw a good idea. Paid for their own R&D to develop something similar and by many accounts better at a lower price point. This is how healthy competition is supposed to work. It gives consumers choices and gets manufacturers to up their game.

Love this! The copycat thing is a hard question, but I generally think it's ok. Auric and Lisa Eldridge released similar products, too. I think the hackles rise a little more when it's an inexpensive brand that does it. But some people just can't afford luxury brands, or choose to spend their money differently. So having a reasonably priced option is great. Everyone deserves to glow!

This is my opinion only, I think shade matching to self tanners is next to impossible; what's worse is we blame makeup brands for their shades that don't match to our fake tans. Auric is hands down the best type of this unique product and you will not be able to share match with the orange undertone of some self tanners.

This. Fake orange tanner put on anyone gives the skin a weird look and trying to match it with shades meant for normal skin colors isn't gonna work great. And the further off your tan is from your natural skin color the worse it looks and the worse finding a match will be.

In Auric Glowlust you’d be the Sunstone shade :) however it seems as though this new Elf glow makes that a moot point! Looking forward to mine arriving later today, I’m a junky for these glowy bases! ✨ thank you for the detailed review

Fantastic, Tara- SUCH a well-done comparison, the most beneficial/helpful 1 I've seen. I liked the Elf side, too. They improved it overall, for $30 less & a smidgen more product. I received my ELF product a few days ago and I agree, I think it’s better than CT. Hands down. It just looks nicer on my skin than CT. Emphasizes textures and pores less. Also, I could never wear CT alone, w/o concealer or foundation or powder - it just looked a bit too metallic. I always had to tone it down w something. I don’t find that to be w ELF. I wore it just on its own and it looked gorgeous. You are right - it has slightly more coverage with a beautiful natural glow. It really is a fantastic product. The shade range is not as wide as CT, but the 2 ELF shades I picked up, 4 (medium) and 5 (medium tan), look exactly the same as the shades I use in CT. Definitely prefer the ELF product over CT. And kudos to ELF for not skimping on the packaging! It’s nice that it’s in a glass bottle. It feels great using it. And I bet you my makeup collection, all the lettering doesn’t peel off this bottle like it does in the CT.

Same! I didnt like the CT flawless filter either! I feel like the only people that rave about it have dry/normal skin with NO texture. CT emphasized and made my texture so much worse and looked oily, not glowy. And the packaging printing is so cheap!

Ya'll I was having the same problem 😭 coming from a texture girly myself here's something that I did to fix this problem "Disclaimer* everyone is different, so what works for me might not work for you 1. Skin prep is super super important. Before putting this on, go in with a deep exfoliant then a good moisturizer and a primer. My personal favorite to use is glycolic acid( wear sunscreen as well if you choose this) and snail mucin essence is God sent if you haven't tried and then the Elf power grip primer this have's my make up last all day fr fr 😭 2.Don't apply directly to your face, put a couple dots depending on how much coverage you want, warm it up on the back of your hand with the tips of your fingers 3. Apply with a beauty sponge or brush not your hands. I prefer a sponge for a more natural finish 4. Also for my oily people out there just like me 😭 I would suggest using a setting powder to go along with this along with a setting spray for an inner glow look

At first application, the elf side was more bronze. Like you just got the perfect amount of sun on vacation! Wow e.l.f. did the damn thang! I have the CT flawless filter in shade 7 for 2 years now and I never use it. I have oily skin and basically...I should not have bought it😄

My dearest Tara Lynn this is a perfect example of why we love you so much!! Your Continuous honest reviews and your awesome tutorials. I have both luxury & affordable makeup & I love both. However the past couple years I had early retire at 63. After my third major back surgery. So I watch your channel one to see the reviews and get the honest opinion of what I am missing out on by not buying and what I really want to get because I still deserve it. And you help me sort through that entire debacle. I still love make up. how ever I hate watching women my age that smile all the time and talk through a grin and smile I wanna slap that shit off their face because they push sponsored items which you do not and for that I’m very grateful! Thanks for your review Tara! I have the Auric & I really like… Never bought the CT Hollywood filter cause I figured it would MOST likely emphasize any skin texture as minor as it may be. So I’m definitely going to buy the Elf & see how that wears on my skin … hopefully I like it as much as Auric. As far as CT if I decide to buy it … it will be a small size first to see how it looks. But for now Elf it is.

Happy to see Elf come out with this. They have made their stance on the overturning of Roe VERY clear, where as every single email I and others have sent to CT have gone unanswered and still no statement. This effects so many in our community. CT will not get any more of my business and companies like Elf will.

Our GenZ girls are boycotting them and not using any products from brands not speaking out so they will be losing money from our college girls. Even Ole Miss who prides themselves on being the most conservative college in the country is boycotting. Several of the sororities nationals have made boycott lists as well.

I love the elf halo glow filter!!! I have fair/medium skin with a neutral undertone and shade 2 was a perfect match for me. I've never tried CT (because i don't wear makeup a lot nor do I want to spend that much for makeup) and elf game is strong!! I use it alone and powder a little in the t zone and i get so many compliments on my skin. 98% of my makeup and skin care are elf products. It's so affordable and the quality is great as well!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤ elf

Fantastic review as always 😊 I don’t mind products that are similar. My issue with plagiarism in makeup are the eyeshadow palettes that are clear ripoffs of higher end versions. When the entire branding of a company is the blatant plagiarism of high end palettes, then I have an issue because that’s a total ripoff of someone else’s artistic creativity.

Hello Tara, I guessed the which side was Elf and I was correct. I have been looking for foundation or a BB cream that doesn’t look like I’m a clown and not to Thick. And this looks like something I would like. I do love how it looked on you & the Elf side did look like it had more coverage. I wish I would of known about this product before. There was a time where liquid lipsticks weren't a thing. One company made it and the rest eventually did as well. Same with making a product similar to the CT Flawless Filter. Also, if I can save $ on makeup and use that $ elsewhere, why not. Will buy Elf when it's back in stock. Great review. Blessings! P.S. I guessed wrong as to which product was on your face.

I don’t wear these for a full foundation I use them under but I will be trying that out! As for being called a “dupe” Auric was definitely the first “dupe” I recall and there could be more out there but I didn’t hear anyone ever say anything bad about Auric in fact it was praised beyond belief it’s ok but nothing out of this world won’t be rebuying them. So glad you did a full face comparisons it definitely helps and I liked the Elf side on you better and will definitely be trying this! Also not everybody can afford Charlotte tilbury so anyone that takes offense should really step back and realize it’s not about them! Great review!

I just purchased the Elf in Number 2 and I love it! But I also ordered the CT in the shade Medium. I ordered medium because they only have 4 shades in the mini. I’m thinking Elf wins already but I have a feeling the CT might be perfect in the summer! It’s a bit darker and just gives a bit of a glow. I need more coverage in the winter (I think) haha. Love this video. I used to mix the 4 And 5 together. Now I have 4.5 So now I Will order 4 from Charlotte tilbury. ;) And 5 also maby to mix them up for a tan. I honestly thought your right side was the elf product because your left side looks more "flawless". Turns out I was wrong..the elf side was your left side! That is amazing! If I really examine your face, I see a slight difference in the texture, smoothness, and color. The right side looks more skin-like, and I believe Charlotte's filter is supposed to just be very lightweight and skin-like.

This looks beautiful and I immediately jumped on the elf website but all of the medium shades were sold out. I’ll be grabbing a couple when they are back in stock! I don’t mind when companies copy high end brands because like you said, it’s not going to hurt Charlotte Tilbury one bit! I often buy dupes of my favorite niche brands of perfume. Same concept, and I don’t always have $300 to shell out on a bottle of perfume. I save the expensive ones for special occasions and spray the affordable ones as often as I like. I agree elf is way better for sure but the true test is natural lighting look near a window bring your mirror and look all angles 😉

I did guess right as to what side was the CT. Both sides look good, but I thought the CT side looked more “metallic” sort of.

We have intellectual property laws. If Elf violated them, CT will sue. If not, it's fair game to develop copycat products. As far as I am concerned, that's up to the lawyers to hash out if and when a line has been crossed. I'm just focused on product performance. CT might have included higher quality/skincare ingredients in the HFF as well, I don't know. Thank you for the review Tara!

The elf one contains waxes and more silicone ingredients. Which definitely seems cheaper and a cheat way to make a thicker, fuller coverage product.. how many people will be breaking out with this one, we'll see..

Ripping CT off? I think CT has been ripping us off for years - her products are grossly overpriced and tbh, I don't like most of them. Good for elf, no brand has the monopoly on shades or formulas. CT has made a fortune from the Hollywood Flawless Filter now it's elfs turn, who btw, won't reap the same profits as CT because the elf product is fairly priced. Just as soon as elf replenish their stocks, I'll happily be getting a couple of shades 😊😊 Awesome vid Tara, thank yooooooooooo!! Love you loads and loads and loads ⭐💗⭐💗⭐💗⭐💗⭐

CT is formulated in Italy, China for Elf. Most makeup is overpriced as the real cost per unit is pocket change. Elf still reaps the same benefits but at a different scale. This isn't the first time ELF purposefully created a dupe. Elf too is ripping you off, but cheaper prices make you believe otherwise. That's the "gotcha".

I think the left size is CT, I hear it’s slightly more glowy and I feel like the left side is a tad more shiny at the start of the video.

Did you put foundation over it on both sides?
