But still, far as i know this is more of an original story inspired by Tolkien's work, and there not hiding it. and the parts that are lore accurate is spot on. And personally i think Sauron looks perfect. when that is said in Rings of Power, Sauron is actoally one of my favorit parts.good actor and some interesting concepts, but i wish the writing was better, and that last outfit he wears is too on the nose. This also have the advantage of being short format, the flashbacks i mean, so they can cut corners without it being weird.

You do know they don’t have full licensing and have some restrictive limitations in ROP so they can’t design a character to look like out of the movies or out of the Warner bros games and even then the actual character of calembrimbor is portrayed correctly in the show

Rings of Power has to break with the lore because of contractual limitations on what material they can use while the Shadow games were everything J.R.R. feared would come of his work and everything Christopher hated about the way it was used. This story and vision of deceiving fair Sauron is so much better done than the awful Amazon Rings of Power. Shadow of War covers that material so much better. If only Amazon had studied the style of this game, their show might have turned out better. As it is, 6 episodes in, we still have no trace of any rings or Sauron. Even the backstory of the wraiths is awesome in Shadow of War. Amazon could have told their backstory too...but we get terrible storytelling so far in season one of Rings of Power.....

actually Amazon, from what i have found, has a lot of creative limitations because they have not acquired the ENTIRETY of the licences for the universe. They are not allowed to name many things, only very indirectly imply, and they cannot tie their story to the movies. This notwithstanding the storytelling, which is awful, but that is only a personal opinion. I have the same feelings for their attempt to adapt the Wheel of Time stories.

When you have multiple scenes where he's armored and then "takes it off" to be more comfortable, he's the elf. When he's lounging around his tower with his lover (which is just... what?) he's the elf. If that's not meant to be the "default" form, I have no idea what is.

First thing: it's great that you liked Amazon's interpretation, and that you can enjoy the Middle-earth content despite the barrage of criticism RoP is getting. I too can appreciate some of the things that have been created in RoP. But... now the big but. I don't believe RoP is any more faithful to what was in the game. Yes, a lot of things were reworked and warped to fit the tone of the game, but it was more for the good of the work itself. Rule of cool if you will. Whereas in RoP, some of the changes, e.g. Celembribor is a completely useless rank-and-file blacksmith who hasn't done anything all that worldly, doesn't know alloys, and is certainly not the sage and great warrior the professor describes him as, are changes for the worse. I'm not even going to comment on the line with the hobbits, Gandalf and Tom Bombadil, which was hideous and will be erased from my memory for a long time to come. The complete absence of any magic, apart from pushing people against walls or mere illusions. Galadriel was one of the most powerful sorceresses in Middle-earth at this time, and despite this, she chose the sword to fight Sauron. So many things that have disgusted me about this series simply cannot be tolerated. Once again, congratulations on being happy with RoP, but to say they are more faithful than this is nonsense. This is not to say all the show’s issues were due to rights issues, but most lore related issues were
