Jessica...I can relate to this so much!! I used to read Nouveau Cheap's blog and when she would post about a new WNW collection, I would go to every drugstore in my town trying to hunt them down. I love the Elf Halo Glow setting powder in Light, it's so finely milled with a light glow. Almost like the Hourglass ambience powders but in a loose format. I also have the Elf highlighting palette and it's a meh for me, the shimmers are not fine enough so it emphasizes my texture. The Elf Illuminating palette though, is great for an all over finishing glow like the Hourglass ambient powders. Now that you brought up all of Wet and Wild's products, it does look like they are stuck in the past and don't really come out with new products, they just keep making over their old products, tweaking them every few years but staying the same. I mean, how many versions of the Comfort Zone palette are we supposed to have? Whereas Elf is a lot more experimental with new products and quick to hop on trends.

Good pair-up to compete. These are two great drugstore brands but I’m not surprised elf won. I feel like they keep up with the times better and their products just keep getting better. The elf highlighter palette is beautiful (The light color is glitter, FYI) and the jelly highlighters are amazing. The flawless finish foundation is a pass I think-it sinks in pores/lines and has enough fragrance to smell hours later. I agree with the mascara-if you want a good drugstore, maybelline and L’Oréal are great. The elf halo glow powder is really nice, haven’t tried wet n wild.

I have been really hit and miss with Elf over the last few years, but recently have picked up some things recently from them that I really like: their Bitesize eyeshadows in Rosewater and Cream/Sugar, their new lipshine in Happy and the hydrating camo concealer. WNW is a brand that I used for many years, going back to my high school years of the late 80s/early 90s it seems that I always had one of their products in my collection up until the last year or so. Unfortunately for me they have fallen off, and since they are no longer cruelty free I pretty much stopped buying anything new. I love WNW foundations stick and Photofocus Liquid!! Their cream contour stick in shade 806, Where's Walnut, is really good, but I use it for bronzer since it's on the warm side. And although it looks really dark, once blended out, it's really beautiful. I like their bullet Silk Finish lipstick in Secret Muse, which is a Gorgeous mauve, and is SO moisturizing!! I've been wearing that color for years now, and have actually gone through a few. That particular line does have some very frosty shades that can look a bit dated, but the regular colors are really pretty; Dark Wine is a beautiful fall dark cabernet color, and I love it! And Just Garnet is a lovely dark, candy apple red...yes, the packaging does look cheap, but I personally don't care, just as long as the product is good, and for $1.00 per lipstick (on the website), you can't beat that price! Now that I think of it, Jeffree Star had a couple of metallic shades that looked very close to some of WNW frosty shades in this line, and his products are expensive, so I suppose those frosty metallic shades are back! 😄 And their gel lip liners are incredible too! And I use their brushes everyday! Lately I've been more interested in WNW than Elf, but Elf will always hold a special place since that's the brand I used when I was first starting to wear makeup again after my divorce 15 yrs ago. Their $2.00 eyeshadow palette Golden Goddess was my only palette back then, and couldn't believe how affordable it was!

I also got a couple of their other formulas to try out (it was all 50 percent off). Anyway, I am really pleased with all of them. There is only 1 shade I’m not in love with, but even that one i”m sure I will wear at some point. I’d say try them out again if you want. I still think elf beats them though. It would be interesting to see Essence vs. Catrice. I would also like to see Bh vs. Colourpop. WnW needs to rethink their blush, bronzer, and shadow lines. Their lipstick colors need a complete overhaul. I like the brand but they need some work. I loved their Fall range back in the day. They don't do that anymore, just the same Halloween stuff. I like old Elf eye shadow primer in the wand, now it says sheer and it is. I did recently pick up their pot shadow primer, very dry going on, but I'm still in the testing phase. I also like their new blue/grey small palette, but the matte shadows need reformulated, too powdery but pretty colors.
