Amazing! I read all comments and WOW, I agree ! except R Yiengst about a "screw up". I am glad to know that this young man is still human and could have a little "slip". Mate, this is a "live"performance!!! I am not a novice in the cello repertoire - I heard "live' a.o. Casals, Janigro, Fournier, Tortellier - but I am glad we will never meet! Watch out also for Leonard Elschenbroich! Another gift from Creation. Such music making makes me feel a little crumb, but there are always people around who want to feel important hence those pathetic critiques! Thanks for uploading and sharing! Beautiful music uplifts the spirit, transcending all boundaries .... creating a better world! (My humble motto)

Personally, I think Benedict plays this concerto the best out of everyone ive ever heard. Like better than Du Pre or anyone else... just my opinion. He doesnt rush the pluckings or certain parts like other performers. His playing style leaves this tension but is also very soothing. It's hard to explain in my head but yeah :P

Moving music played with intensity and dedication. Whatever the "screw up" at 21:24, the overall performance is still "A" in caliber. I am grateful for the chance to experience such artistry.

+Richard Yiengst The screw up was the orchestra's fault - they weren't keeping in time, he stopped and restarted to ensure the whole performance didn't fall apart.

Such a grand performance! Thank you for sharing. The Elgar needs great technique and a deep understanding of Elgar's musical idiom, and this young cellist got plenty of it and more.
