Elgin is in Moray, in the North East Lowlands. And I think I should know as I'm born and bred in Moray.

I’ve been working on my family tree and it seems the majority of my Scottish ancestors hail from Moray. Traced back as far as mid 17th century. Elgin, Fochabers and Boharm are birth locations that came up often. Surnames include Simpson, Winchester, Bowman, Shand, Reid and Man. Descendants emigrated to the Maritime Provinces of Canada. I’d love to visit Moray some day, looks absolutely gorgeous.

Visit soon you won't regret it. I came up here in 1997 for a Dolphin watching week and fell in love with the area of Moray. Moved up in 2005 and still remain.

Near the Highlands, maybe but safely on the better side of the Highland Line. You don’t site two Nato capable military airfields where there are lochs, glens and bens..
