That lamp will forever be remembered as one half of Lampdy. Its life will never be the same. Let's just hope the fame doesn't go to its head. (Or Andy's, I guess, in case they share feelings when they are joined.. Ok, now my brain is just being weird)

I'm out of the loop. 😄 I've seen the lamp in several of the music videos that were recorded in this room but I didn't see when it was on Andy's head lol. Was this during a live stream?
@jessinthegarden10 ай бұрын
@@ProfesoraNut I replied but then I guess edited my reply too much and it glitched and vanished? 😂 I’ll try again. Had to look it up, but yes, in the “streamship troopers” live stream (9 months ago) starting around the one hour fifteen mark, Andy puts the lampshade on his head, then ends up singing with it on. I believe the lamp had been moved off its usual table for some reason, and it kept falling over, and Andy got fed up with it and got his revenge by wearing it. (He frequently puts things on his head/face, it’s one of the livestream bingo squares) One of the folks on the discord even made a drawing of it, and someone made a “Lampdy” emoji for the discord. Splendid TLJ lore😂

Excellent version! Sad but beautiful. As always lots of good suggestions already here. "Dawson's Christian" (by Vic Tyler from the Carmen Miranda's Ghost album which is a Leslie Fish and Vic Tyler collab) is possibly my first choice. But there are others on the same album. "Some Kind of Hero", "Guardians", "Sam Jones" are my other faves. But really, it's space exploration which has a huge nautical theme to the language (astronaut, space ships, naval terms for crew of said space ships) AND "Dawson's Christian" is a ghost story on top of that. As is "Guardians". "Some Kind of Hero" and "Sam Jones" both have the theme of sacrifice for their fellow man kind of theme. But filk aside... "Over the Hills" from Sharpe, "Cornwall My Home", "Witch of the Westmoreland" (the music of the Stan Rogers version but preserving Archie Fisher's lyrics), "Wreck of the Athens Queen" is another Stan Rogers song. And my personal non-sea themed song by Stan Rogers, "Field Behind the Plow" are all good too.
@ctw30002000 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to ventilate your pressure chamber there, but Dawson's Christian is not originally by Vic Tyler. It is far older, as far as I can tell it is by a guy named Duane Elms. Also, I don't like Vic's version, it is too weak and twangy. Try to find Vixy and Tony's interpretation of that song, it is much better.
@WaynettePorter Жыл бұрын
@@ctw30002000 Not blowing my mind at all. I am well aware of who wrote "Dawson's Christian" (and have noted that in prior comments). In fact I've heard a 1987 version that appears to be by Duane Elms. I have also heard Vixy and Tony's version. And one by Larry Warner. And another one that's Vic Tyler, Kristoph Klover, and Ben Lange. And here's the thing. I like all 5 versions! Though Vixy and Tony's version is a bit heavy on the drum, violin and cello. But because I was also listing the other songs on Carmen Miranda's Ghost, that is the one I chose to use as an example. And if you want to go on which version is older, of course the writer's is older (1987) though not much older than Vic Tyler's (1989), Larry Warner (1990), Vixy & Tony (2016) and the Tyler, Klover, Lange version which is titled a "Retro Filk Mix" from a 6 track EP from Prometheus Music that just came out this year.
