Watching the episode of the week brought many memories to my mind. When Stefan tells Elena "bring me back" was the most beautiful thing I saw after many years. Elena is the humanity of stefan! Yes she is. As the episode 6x17, without comment.

We're in the same boat. The reason I have never shipped DE, is because, Damon had no respect for Stefan & Elena's relationship. If I can recall, Damon tried to kiss Elena, right after Stefan saved him from John Gilbert, who tried to burn him alive. "Season 3" was when Damon showed his true colors. Stefan was forced to sacrifice everything to save his life & he tries to win Elena's affections. How low can you get? Ian Somerhalder is incredibly gorgeous, but, what Damon did to Stefan was so wrong. Before "Season 3", I started to regain some respect for Damon. In the episode "Rose" from "Season 2", Damon told Elena he loved her & compelled her to forget. He had accepted their relationship & acknowledged to himself and to Elena that he didn't deserve her affections. There was only one person that I truly wanted to end up with Damon: Rose Marie | This beautiful character came to us in "Season 2". When we first met Rose, she was no different than Katherine. She was hellbent on doing whatever it took to get her freedom from Klaus. In her final episodes, she made a complete 180. She went from being an enemy to a protector. At the end of the day, Rose didn't give a damn about her freedom. Plus, she had a huge impact on Damon. Damon was free to be himself whenever he was around Rose: The reason why Damon is so aggressive & violent, is because, people are always stripping him of his free will. Rose never did that to him. Damon was slowly starting to come out of his shell & grow into a more sympathetic character. In the episode "By The Light of the Moon", Damon apologized to Rose for the attack. Jules attacked the boarding house because Damon had threatened her. Rose willingly took the fall for him & Damon knew that he owed it to her to apologize. He was such a gentleman about it too. He got her a glass, poured her a drink & said "I'm sorry." What I was seeing was true character growth. After losing everybody she loved, Rose kept her humanity: When you spend time with a vampire, who is determined to fight for their humanity after losing everything, that changes you. In "The Descent" we finally discovered the reason why Rose kept her humanity: she never wanted to take human life. When Rose saw the body of a girl that she had murdered, she was praying for death. The look on Damon's face was priceless. What Damon did for Rose in her final moments, was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen him do. Right before Damon told Elena to leave, Rose revealed that the happiest days in her life, was when she was growing up in England & how badly she wanted to go home. When Damon gave Rose her last wish, by sending her back & letting her be in the sun, I cried so hard. What Damon did for her, had nothing to do with him & had everything to do with Rose. They should have been together. Their relationship would have been beautiful & cause Damon to actually GROW. Not this leash called Elena that stops him from doing horrible things & pretend that it's growth. It is not growth. It is pretending. Rose would have ended the love triangle... P.S.: Despite his feelings for Elena, Damon never told her about what he did for Rose. She didn't find out until "Season 3". That should tell people something.

When I saw the "Season 6" poster, I was like "Thank You God!". Then I starting seeing promos with Damon & Elena | Stefan & Caroline MAKING OUT... I was like: Fuck This. Since then, I've calmed down & realized that the creators have them holding hands for a reason. I just want to see what that reason is.

I was like, do these people need to re-watch the series? Elena was the first person that made Stefan feel 'human'. He confessed that to Lexi in "Season 1". Elena brought Stefan out of his shell. She persuaded him to join the football team & he felt really good about it. They went on a double-date with Matt & Caroline. I especially liked when Stefan and Matt bonded at the pool table. He even let Matt drive his vintage Porsche. Stefan was in the grill when Caroline sung "Eternal Flame" to Matt. He clapped along with Jenna, Bonnie & Elena when Matt kissed Caroline on the stage. This whole Stefan and Caroline mess started when she turned in "Season 2". What Lexi was to Stefan, that's Stefan's position with Caroline. Nothing romantic. Elena has saved Stefan's life 3 times! In the episode "Blood Brothers" from "Season 1", when Elena found out the truth about Damon's transition, she went to talk to Stefan about it & found that he deliberately left his ring. He was riddled with so much guilt for terrorizing that girl at the Founder's Pageant. He told Elena that all he could hear was the cries & the screams of his victims and that he desperately wanted it to stop. I was terrified. I seriously thought that we were going to lose him. That moment scared me more than him nearly getting killed by the tomb vampires. Stefan drinking Elena's blood to maintain his strength, is a key indicator of how powerful SE was. When Stefan expressed to Elena that he needed to drink human blood, I was concerned about that just like Elena was. Considering Stefan's history when it comes to drinking human blood, the fact that Stefan was able to maintain his bloodlust while drinking Elena's blood was incredible. Let's get to "Season 3". When Klaus compelled Stefan to attack Elena, he never wanted to feel NOTHING again. He confessed that to Elena in "Don't Go Gentle". That's when I saw the depth of Stefan's love. He hurt the last person in the world that he never wanted to hurt. P.S.: Stefan did love Katherine, but, he was never 'in love' with her. Damon and Elijah were the only ones. I loved this video. Elena and Stefan. They have been through a lot, now it's time for Stefan to live a new love, as did Elena with Damon. Sure, Caroline is not sister Elena, but a close friend ... now Elena could feel firsthand what Stefan felt when she left him by his older brother. Do not misunderstand me, I love Stelena are the best couple in the series. Damon told Stefan that if Caroline was his new "chosen" he would know and would not doubt it, but I hesitated. Stefan just want to fill the void and Caroline compensate for the loss of his mother, that's all. He does not want to feel guilty pain of his best friend. Damon now that focuses on both his obsession towards Elena realizes that in fact never overtake Stefan Elena, now that Damon is closer to Bonnie.

If you love and appreciate Stefan's character, you can't ship him with Elena. Not after everything she made him go through, after the pain he has suffered because of her leaving him and choosing Damon over him. Stefan deserves better than this; Stefan deserves better than Elena. This is just my opinion, this is not a hate comment.
