@@ScottishMountainGoat and a campsite nearby. Excellent! Coincidentally I saw a pic the other day from the 30s or something with a guy carrying his bike along there! Nutcase.

A walk I've done many times, usually from the Elie end and coming back over Kincraig Hill. You don't want to mess around with the tide but going early on a falling tide is a lot of fun, with the sea beneath your feet on some sections. I've done real Via Ferrata in the Dolomites and it's nothing like that, no need for harnesses or helmets, but you can't be too casual either. Wonderful.
@ScottishMountainGoat3 жыл бұрын
Nice one Gordon! I imagine it must be a bit trickier at high tide with the wetter rocks? There is a real via ferrata route in Scotland up near Kinlochleven but it's a paid for route, I wouldn't mind giving that a try one day. Thanks for watching!

Another great video! I live Quite close and have done the walk to Elie a few times. It’s a great experience but instead of walking back, carry on to Elie and a welcome pint then get the 95 bus back!

Haha i'll need to update the route map to add that little extra stop 😄😄 Cheers David!

Magnificent! I've hiked places in Canada with rope instead of chain but the scenery doesn't hold a candle to The Elie Chain Walk.

Cheers Penny! The chain walk certainty doesn't disappoint! It's a shame it's so unique, I'd love to do some more 😄

Panic attack watching this lol. Fair play to you mate, don't think I'd attempt that. Great video from me and Meena.

Another stunning video Kris. 👌Always fancied that chain walk like.

Cheers Kev! I thought it was just a strole along the beech when I first went there 😂 Definitely think the "walk" part may be false advertisement 😄

Mate, that private reggie must have cost you a few Bob. 😜 Nicely filmed mate, one of your best and it doesn't look too bad at all, apart from the crux near the end.

Haha 😄 Keep getting pulled over for the non standard icon on it! Cheers man, 👍 appreciated. It's not bad at all. I think it's definitely a case of mind over matter.

I have been meaning to do this for years it looks really fun. Not sure I would be back and forward to get the camera though 🤣. Great video. P.S. love the private ref 😉

Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed this beautifully filmed video. Well done. Though the chain sections are not too long I certainly would not try this route without my Via Ferrara kit and a lid on.
@ScottishMountainGoat3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael! Yes, it's a tough call that one. You certainly wouldn't look out of place with a helmet on the route and I've seen others do it wearing dry suits as well.
@glasgowbhoy8711 Жыл бұрын
Done this a few days ago… 11:00 I’m shocked that it’s dry lol that full area was FULL of water and rising rapidly we got soaked… it was brilliant and added to the adventurer but 15/20 mins later and I would have been stranded
@ScottishMountainGoat Жыл бұрын
Haha, certainly would have made it even more exciting! 😄
@greigmartin43393 жыл бұрын
Well done. U made this look a lot easier than my attempt lol. I’m a bit too heavy around the middle for upper body to deal with on the last chains and very nearly fell off but luckily made it unscathed. It’s a fun/nervy couple of hours.
@ScottishMountainGoat3 жыл бұрын
Haha, sounds like my first attempt. Definitely felt alot less scary the second time round. I think it's the fear of the unknown that really gets you on these sort of things lol 😆

@@ScottishMountainGoat lol yeah there was a few times I had 3 points of contact with a 4th waggling around in hope in the air.
