But they will stay in touch with female friends but rarely a male friend, so you never need to worry about them going back to old boyfriend etc. Next, family. Yes it is hard for them to leave parents only for the most part, but they always say they will visit someday, so they do not think of it as they are in another country, but as though they are much closer. There is a common trend in the U.S. where married women are leaving their husbands. My wife got pregnant from another man while we were married. She left me and our 12yr old son and had the baby with the other guy. Now she's with a totally different guy. I raised my son, homeschooled him, sent him to college, now we work together and are building his first house. I ended up finding who I thought was my true love while my son was in college. We married and had some good years, but she ended up leaving as well, after I supported her to get her bachelor's and master's degree. Women approach me often to date me, but now I wonder what they hope to get out of me. I don't think they're intentions are really to go through life together, but rather what they can get out of a man before going to the next man. I want to share life with someone special, but it's hard to trust anymore. I just focus on sharing life with my son and my brother, sister, and father. Hopefully I could find someone, but I don't know how to believe a woman's true intentions anymore.

"Soulmate." Now that was is a key word mentioned by one of the interviewees. The most important factors in a relationship are character, personality, interests not too wide apart, and similar culture (easier to understand each other) makes life easier. Looks come far down the list for a relationship. A healthy relationship is built on love, not lust. Lust is attraction to looks, and that can lead to love, but it is not love in itself. The tendency in the West of falling in lust is one of the primary causes of the high divorce rate. Love is deeper, soul to soul, and then looks are not so important.

If I can say something as an old guy, what applies to a wife is what applies to friends. Personal integrity matters most because marriage is partnership in every way. If you can't trust your partner or friend it won't work. Other things can be learned, we change too in time, we love the differences if we are open to them. Nationality matters but it's not the basic thing. Better to live alone than with the wrong one.

Yep. Compatibility both culturally and genetically, as well as in terms of personality type, is the most important thing when It comes to long-term relationships. Way more important than the momentary feelings of "love" and lust which are just temporary and will fade eventually, leaving you with a person you no longer feel any kind of passion anymore, who you aren't actually compatible with. So if you want an actual relationship and a functional marriage, for the love of god, marry within your own ethnic group with someone you actually get along with.

I have a Russian wife as well LOL. But my story is entirely different - we both grew up in the same city in Eastern Europe - I was born there, and her parents moved there for work; and we've known each other from childhood. It made a huge difference since we are from very similar cultures, and we speak Russian at home (since my Russian is a lot better than her Lithuanian!). As for some of the comments here, that a lot of thse girls can be gold-diggers who just want citizenship in a Western country - yes that can be very true. You just have to be careful. If she is hot and has a super-outgoing personality, and you're an average-looking introverted guy, it is too obvious she is only interested in your Western passport. Look for a girl that matches your looks, and more importantly, matches your personality. I've seen how quiet mild-mannered girls just go overlooked because they do not draw attention to themselves.

My heritage is Russian/Ukrainian. I live in the USA. when I was young I married a Philippine girl, we tried but it did not work out. The cultural barriers were to high and I guess we did not love one another enough to over come them. Even though we were married for five years, we where very careful not to have children. My second and present wife is Ukrainian and we have been very happily married for 32 years now. We have three kids, now in their twenties that look like us. Perhaps I am a benevolent racist, but I like the fact and am glad that ultimately I returned to my own culture and national origin. In the end multiculturalism leads to being subjected and ruled by people that have the power and identity of their own culture and roots. That is reality!
