I can't say enough good things about these lessons. Great pace, good information, asthetically pleasing set and an excellent host who isn't a complete stooge. 10/10 can't wait to do all the rest of the days!

As a guitar player coming to the banjo, the hardest thing so far has been re-training my brain that my thumb plays highest notes. I can hear the notes in my head and once it's time to play with the thumb my brain instinctively moves my middle finger.

Just the right level for someone brand new to banjo. I got my Banjo 9days ago & I’m on Day 5 lesson today. It’s really helping me focus on a new skill following my mental health issues.

Sir, you are an amazing music teacher. I bought my first banjo 2 days ago and it’s been so much fun learning to your videos if my guitar teacher was as thorough and pleasant I’d have stuck with it

Thank you so much for this course. I'm brand new to learning an instrument at the age of 38. Between the detailed breakdown of each lesson and book of tab that lines up to each day, it's all really helpful.

I'm going way slower than 1/day, but I really like the pacing. Just enough each new lesson for me to make it sound like I'm making progress, but not so hard that I get discouraged. When are you going to do the extra 335 days for a who year? (I kid of course, but that'd be awesome.)

Thanks a lot for the lessons. You are a good teacher(clear, understanding and engaging) and I like the fact that we not only learn the technique but also the tabs and other useful tips. The music of banjo masters is a great bonus and insight in the world of this great instrument. Im really happy that you share all this with us. Best of luck and greetings from Denmark

Many thanks pal! Greeting for Greece. Unfortunately, banjo here is not popular so there is no one here to help me. You give me the motivation to start trying again. I need 2-3 days for a single video, but I am feeling so good cause I can see progress. Keep doing that excellent job! Many thanks once again!

Here for day 5. Y’all may see my comments using different profiles lol. These videos are awesome for not only learning banjo for tab reading as well. Before these videos I tried teaching myself tabs and I was okay with beginner but didn’t know much to progress me along. With these videos I’m able to do everything I need to do and can successfully carry the things I learned on to other songs I wish to learn on my own time. You won’t find a better free banjo teacher than these videos. I’ve watched several people on KZbin before Eli Gilbert but the videos were either blurry and I couldn’t correctly see what fingering there were showing or they didn’t describe it the way I could understand. And none of the ones I watch taught TAB reading as well. If you are struggling just put the banjo down and try again after you’ve wound down. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it.

Love just the slight advances each day, it's keeping me from becoming frustrated. I have spent more than one day at a few of the levels. The angle you hold the banjo neck is much higher than a guitar and is making my arm sore but I'm sure it'll stop with time.

I like this in particular because I have some songs I can find the melody notes for but not sure at all how to translate that into Scruggs style banjo. Hopefully this will bridge that gap a bit.

Hey Eli i am getting on really well with your videos and enjoying the progress i was looking to private mail you but no odds. I am stuck now on this video on the previous videos you described where each finger went on each string, on the fifth video you never mentioned where they go, i seen your fingers moving on the left and got confused lol. But i have been doing great up to this point, thanks a million and keep up your videos, the home work is a great idea for practice lol, thanks.

These classes are going well. I was practicing over the last few days and reached this point but was slightly dismayed that I wasn't producing a good sound. Went back to lesson 1 and following the tuning section more clearly and it made a huge difference. Was way out of tune before!

I found easier, for this lesson, to get the timing down w/o my picks and playing along w/ Eli and then donning the picks when I had the timing of each measure right. But I'm a newb, what do I know?
