I just bought my first bottle of Evan Williams 1783, and it is nice. Nothing wrong with Evan Williams products, and the 1783 gives you excellent value. Will try the EC SB, but lately been a bit disappointed with regular EC, seems a bit rushed IMO.

Hi, Matt! Human palates are very interesting! These 2 are absolutely not the same whiskies, but I feel the EW 1783 as the sweetest bourbon I have ever tasted. Both are great budget bourbons to enjoy at home any time!

This is very subjective. Having tasted hundreds of whiskies I’d say I’m in the know. There are quite a few bourbons I prefer as my daily over EC.

At 4:27 you say you 1783 gives you a nutty bitterness, but I get more or a bitter nuttiness. I guess our palates are completely different.

No comparison. I feel like the Evan Williams Brands and McKenna 10 have the same profile and are different from the EC. What I find strange is when I get an EC store pick that has the Evan Williams profile as opposed to the EC. We chose an a barrel proof pick and the two samples were night and day different. I told the guys that I knew my pick just from the nose before I even tasted it. One had the EW ethanol nose and the EC had the more sweet oaky nose.

I'll drink either. I keep a variety of EW just because there is value in something that doesn't bum you out when you throw an empty bottle away. It's not missed, but it served you well.

Great match up! I liked the 1783 a few months ago when I started my journey and I thought the EC was way better. I go back the the EC often and I don’t touch the 1783 much. The EC is a nice warm up going into my ECBP’s and my EC store pick.

Are Small Batch store picks actually single barrel? We had a release in Idaho last year, and the bottle looks like Small Batch, tastes spectacular, and is a "Idaho Liquor Division" store pick. Isn't the definition of store pick that it's a pick of a single barrel?

Yes they are single barrels. It says small batch up top but says single barrel on lower label. I dont know why they are confusing

I've tried 3 of the Evan Williams line, their entry level black label, the bottled-in-bond, and the 1783. Didn't care for any of them, honestly. EC Small Batch is one of my go-to bottles. In my opinion, there is no comparison here.

BIB is a better challenger to EC. Still maybe slightly prefer ECs taste but it's like 10 bucks more than BIB where I'm located
