I got my 90 proof version this past Saturday and it really does amp up the flavors from the original. I can definitely notice the barrel char in the 90 vs the 86. HH did a fantastic job on this release! Cheers!!!

I just got a bottle and I was surprised how good it is! I paid $17 for a 750ml but it’s the spicy finish and how long the finish is for a $17 bourbon that made me a believer. I am putting this juice in another bottle and see what my bourbon friends say about it. Now I have my favorite under $20! Under $30 there are a few but Cooper’s Craft 100 proof my favorite. Again thanks for the review!

I really like the what’s on the Shelf Wednesday series. I enjoy all your reviews but you have to realize that you have access to many Bourbons that the general public will probably never see and most likely will be priced out of the range of many. Hey Jason: Picked up my second bottle of this today! For some reason did not do notes on the first bottle/?????? I remember that I liked it! The neck pour is brown sugar forward to me. I also made a High Ball with HUDSON NORTH Ginger/Citrus/Grapefruit Craft Hard Cider; which brings out the wood char notes of the bourbon. I did a 50/50? blend straight of the EWSB and the HUDSON NORTH Hard Cider and it brings out a dry wood note. HUDSON NORTH is a Craft Cidery in the Hudson Valley north of NYC. There are 2 or sometime 3 expressions available in my supermarket here in Brooklyn. SLÁINTE MIKE

Kentucky.. gotta love it. And there’s definitely apple in it. It’s more prevalent in the newer version. On the backend. Very overlooked bourbon but damn good. Just like any other Kentucky bourbon, whether its Rye cut,or Rye/Wheat cut

I liked this stuff and will likely buy it again. I hate it that the “standard” proof for liquor was changed from 86 to 80. While some 90+ proof spirits are too harsh, budget 80 proof liquor just doesn’t taste good. The imperfections in the flavor stand out. But back to the new 1783- for $20 it’s a really good deal.

This is a really good 90 proof bourbon. Definitely a bar keeper. Replace all your lower end bourbons with this one IMO. Ok neat or on the rocks, tremendous as a mixer. At the price no one cares if it is a mixer, and it is solid in an Old Fashion. (I prefer Bulleit for bite). It tastes like a Snickers bar when mixed with cola, which is perfect for non or light whiskey drinkers, or after work. Cherry notes are there on the finish. Brown Sugar, Caramel, Peanut, Cherry and Oak to me. Tremendous value. Has taken down some big names in blind taste tests.

I have spent way more and got way worse. I cannot complain about this Bourbon. It hits the notes. I like the 90 proof. The nose and finish hits way higher than it's price point. I have the new VETERANS select barrel with patriotic label. You are correct about that chocolate milk mouth feel,which is usually found on higher price point Bourbon.

I just have a really hard time buying this over the white label BiB at 100 proof. Sure this is older and maybe a little better barrels going into it but I use whiskey in this price range for mixed drinks and 100 proof just stands up better and it costs even less. A handle of BiB is waiting to go on vacation with me.

I love just regular old black label Evan Williams. It's a great tasting, easy drinking bourbon, for the price. Not too impressed with the "old" 1783. I still have half a bottle of it. I will give the new one a try, very soon. BTW, what does your tattoo say on your right forearm? I can make out "domani" but not the first part. Thanks for the review.
