After so many movie review, last night I decided to watch this film. I thought it was the same repeated stereotyped love story between two people of the same sex. BUT this movie blows my mind! It's perfect and the chemistry between Elio and Oliver is so beautiful and intense. It's such a genuine, pure love and they have such a strong connection! I LOVED every scene, every moment they share, everything. I'm also so happy bc it was shooted in Italy, which is my country, so yay.

I am a 67yo man now. When I was just turning 17, I was introduced to a handsome 30yo man who was a friend of my mothers. I could tell the moment our eyes met that he was also gay although my mother had no clue about either of us. I pursued him with all my being. He tried his best to not succumb to my advances as I know he felt that he would be betraying my mother. That started a passionate love affair that lasted for almost two years. I knew he struggled with his sexuality and was very much in the closet to most. I would meet him at his apartment after school and rush home in time for dinner. On weekends, we would spend as much time together as we could. After high school graduation and within weeks of leaving for college, my mother came home in tears one day to tell me that "her friend" had committed suicide. I stood there in disbelief but at the same time hiding my grief and heartbreak as best as I could. Still to this day I feel the sadness of that loss and not being able to tell anyone.

The book is obviously more detailed and showed the torment Elio went through because of his feelings for Oliver. My stomach was knotted with pain because of the anguish Elio suffered. I only started enjoying the book when Oliver reciprocated his feelings. This is love in its purest form.

Timothée is not shallow or ungrateful for his opportunities. The thing that's so refreshing is that not only is he extremely handsome and gorgeous but he is sooo talented and doesnt even know it. And every opportunities he gets, he cherishes it and he is so modest and shy and doesnt even know how talented he is. This story reminds when when I was 21 and I dated a British guy I met while he was on vacation here in my country, He was 32 by the time. Over the years I have seen many attempts to portray male love in movies. Usually, the attempts are embarrassing at least, but this film is beautiful and so gentle even though sad. The producers and directors deserve a major award but of course, none will come because of the content (I hope I am wrong). I was very moved and will watch this wonderful and beautiful movie again and again.

I read the novel after watching the movie. The movie is visually pleasing but you should read the novel too, it's beautiful and more in depth. The who point of "call me by your name" lies in the end part which is left out in the movie. The novel really left a deep impression on me. Sometimes I forgot that Elio and Oliver are just fictional characters.

not exactly. elio shares that he likes oliver (without really saying it but that’s what he’s obviously implying) and oliver shuts it down saying they can’t talk about those things. later elio brings in up once more for a short moment but they quickly move past it. then it cuts to a scene of them laying down and oliver runs his hands and fingers over elios mouth and face. elio then sits up and they kinda mutually go in for the kiss.

In the books he said that an year prior Oliver’s visit he was looking through the candidates photos for the upcoming summer and he saw Oliver’s photo and immediately felt something for him ,so he suggested him to his father and he agreed .In the last pages before Oliver leaves for good Elio whispers to him “ I made sure it was you “.
