Lovely tutorial! Learned a few easier methods to digitalising than what i used to do. A suggestion. I think u can easily recolour to white (or any other colour) by clicking on the lettered layer..clicking on the lock transparency key there in the top of layer window...and simply fill the layer (shift F5 for windows) with white or another colour. What this does is colour everything that is in the layer retaining the transparent areas as transparent.

Or simply use layer styles and use colour overlay to white :)

Dear elisa, thanks for all you tips and tricks this is very useful!! The only thing I don't get is why are you writing the adress with the pen before and not directly with the pointed pen... 🤔 Thank you if you answer this one 🤗

chiaricontorni because these are envelope samples for my website and I didn’t want to waste a ton of good envelopes getting a perfect address - instead I photoshopped it onto the envelope!

@@elisaanne oh yes I got this, I meant: why did you write the address with the pentel touch pen and then retrace it with the pointed pen (over the light box) insted of writing it directly with the pointed pen? thank you :)

This won't work for me because I don't do the same thing over and over. The imperfections get more compliments from my clients

Hi Rachael! I actually don't edit the calligraphy AT ALL when I digitize it for something like this. I only turned them white for the sake of the photo and to make sure it was on-brand for my website... The calligraphy samples are simply photos I add to my website that represent what I can do! When I do my calligraphy all by hand for an envelope order there are multiple differences/imperfections :) And I agree, that's what makes calligraphy such an amazing art!

Anyway... I hope that clears up any confusion for you! This technique is ONLY used for a few photos for website display, not for an actually calligraphy order for a client.
