I very much like serial music, and am fascinated by how composers took it in different directions. I will try to get around to posting more of her piano music here.

Love this...met Lutyens in the 70's when I was a student...(I was a friend of her son)...but did not realise her great talent at the time..you know...the self absorption of youth ! Great you posted this...

Check out her autobiography. She had a pretty rough time professionally.

Wow! I wish I could meet her in person. Senior British composers all have vivid memories of the personality of Lutyens. Sadly the number of her living colleagues and friends are dwindling by each year.

I like her music deeply. It is something of not just typical serial music. It is very angular yet deeply melodic and flowing.

Much easier to listen to than other composers in this genre. Very impressed with this. Never heard of her before.

"Do you want it to be good, or do you want it Wednesday?" I wish more software companies would dare ask that question.

First piece I heard of hers was "And suddenly it's evening" (you can also find that online - a smorgasbord of tone colour). She had a biting wit as well - referring to the British pastoral school as 'cowpat music' .

A talented man. Norfolk Broads? Somerset Levels? 1920s?

Great music. Unlike a lot of the music from that time, it doesn't sound the least bit dated.

If her father's houses had been structured like his daughter's music, they would all have fallen down.
