Got one for my next gravel build a month ago... mine is a little bit heavier but has slightly different clamping (but very close to your ultimate ww one) and it comes in 135g (27.2 350mm) still pretty insane for the price. Very happy with the purchase.

5:05 you have more contact surfaces only if it's perfectly rounded. In my case with ElitaOne it wasn't round. There's always a quality issues for that price. But still looks and feels absolutely legit.
@veganpotterthevegan21 күн бұрын
Even if its imperfect, there should still be more contact area.
@dusty_hoods20 күн бұрын
@veganpotterthevegan mine is not round so the contact area is like 20% of it should be. I think it can be fixed with sanding.
@veganpotterthevegan20 күн бұрын
@dusty_hoods 20% of this is more than 100% of the Darimo. Keep in mind, there will still be some deflection from the rails and clamp that will result in more contact too.

Not saying it would happen to you, just that I don't trust these anymore. Maybe there was a fault, maybe due to the fact that I'm a heavier rider, maybe it was the specific circumstances. Just take note.

I have 27.2mm. I'm quite impressed with both the weight and strength. I chopped 70mm off (unnecessary weight) and tried crushing the loft over bit in my vice. It took some effort to crush it. It failed eventually, but there is no way you can generate similar force in the bike stand or the seat post clamp. Definitely the best ROI on my lightweight built.

I can only speak for the offset 27.2mm model but i've had one unit break at the clamp at rated torque after about 9 months (stated warranty was not honored, they never replied). The second unit is so badly oval it will not fit a precise seat tube, it has been fine in a cheap alloy frame at 4NM though.

Am ambivalent about this one. Have had one on my trainer bike for hundreds of hours and it's been great. Ran one on my MTB for a race once and it failed three times on moderate terrain - rails rattled loose twice, and then finally the post itself snapped.
@slayerofgrams22 күн бұрын
You have to be pretty precise then mounting the saddle... my Darimo is the same... if the yokes are a tad bit off angle and then moves while riding it can rattle loose. After the first ride I always try to double check the bolts. The snapped seat post is harder to fix though 😅 Cheers for sharing your experience!

What’s the weight?
@kemson445522 күн бұрын
@ 119,4 grams. It’s very important during mounting that you only set the seatangle with the front screw and tighten the seat only with the back screw. If you not do it that steps, the seatpost can crack. I also grinded the aluminium brackets to have more surface for clamping and less stress to the Seat rails.
@el3ktrik021 күн бұрын
I wouldn't tighten the yoke more than 6Nm. 10Nm bent the aluminum elements and one of the screw holders gave in. With some distrust but worth it.
@slayerofgrams21 күн бұрын

@slayerofgrams11 күн бұрын
Twist away, my guess is that they write that because you can scratch the surface with excessive twisting while applying pressure.

There's no budget alternatives that I know of (Admittedly I not in the market for one so could possible have missed one) But all the 3rd party ones are from boutique brands like Darimo or Alpitude etc. To be honest, judging by the comments and experience from other users on this video... an $20 elita one in proprietary shape sound like a proper lottery 😅

Hi, is there any difference in ride quality in terms of comfort when it comes to each seatpost’s ability to absorb road buzz? Or are they all roughly the same?
@leefitler459722 күн бұрын
I can only compare to one other name brand carbon post and I did not feel a comfort difference.
@slayerofgrams22 күн бұрын
Can’t say I’ve ever experienced a huge difference between seaports on the same bike. The post it’s self is just one part of the equation though. On a bike with fairly small amount of seatpost exposed the tires and even the saddle will have a bigger impact on road buzz in my experience. (Assuming we talking about carbon seatposts)
@ariffau22 күн бұрын
@@slayerofgrams yup! I find my bikes ride differently. The problem is the one with aluminium seatpost has 0 setback with less seatpost showing due to longer seat tube. My other bike is more comfortable with carbon seatpost but then again that one’s got a steeper seat angle and a shorter seat tube so it has more seatpost sticking out and the seatpost also has a setback. Despite running the same tyres at the same air pressure (using Silca’s calculator), they ride very differently and I am not sure if I can pinpoint it to the seatpost material alone. It’s an amalgamation of all other variables.
@ltu4222 күн бұрын
Other parameters like the diameter of the seatpost, the exposed length, and material have a lot more effect in my opinion. These cheap thin lightweight seatposts are visibly flexy on my frame, and it does have an effect on comfort.
