@Karackal yeah. It's totally possible. Warframe does this. You pay like $10 and upload your image file. They approve or deny, and it goes in the next update. That's how it was 9 years ago, or so, when I did it with my 1 man clan. Same here. Upload image for small fee. Then you also have the 'Squadron' decal/banner/signage you can buy from the marketplace to put on your ship/suit/colony property. They could have a dual banner, too, for powerplay logo plus Squadron logo or name. Also, another way for the company to make a bit more money with stuff we actually want.

It's amazing. The only thing I would like to colonize remote systems. Pulling a chain 10 ly at a time, even for a modest 1000 ly, sounds like torture. If we leave the system with a radius, then the minimum acceptable value for me is 500 ly, in accordance with carrier's jump. I agree to the logistical difficulties, but why would I need a Fleet carrier if it won't help me deliver goods to remote corners of the galaxy? I mean, people on Earth have colonized places that take weeks and months to sail to. But in the 33rd century, why can't I start a colony at a distance that can be covered in a few minutes? Even the noodles ordered through Uber eats from Sol won't have time to cool down in that time, lol.
@gwevans3585 күн бұрын
I wonder how this will work for solo players? I would hope, that you could potentially put in "buy orders" for the building supplies and then NPC ships could then begin delivering supplies. If not, then I don't see how solo players could participate in a practical way.

How much cash does it take to start this, and how much can we make from it? I imagine being the Governor of an entire system is going to lead to some pretty strapping income gains, depending on your location. My major question is: what if I don't want my systems to be involved with Powerplay? If these systems lead to a certain level of grind automation, that would definitely be interesting.

Haven't played Elite Dangerous in years, but I'd play it again if we could do true colonization and our story actually had an impact on the galaxy. Looking forward to the update next year.

I am sceptical. How will defence work? Will there be NPC? How will NPC economy work, will it even work? Will you get a cut of the income? How will we control the space without the possibility to make our own factions that other players can join? Right now there is no working system for us to manage people playing together. If two players have pledged for two different factions, can one of them do anything to stop the other player from creating and taking the system for there faction? What systems are in place to keep other players from camping and destroying deliveries of resources to the construction? Will community missions to deliver good spawn in all stations in the universe or just in systems close by, what is the range for the supply missions? Will you get reputation with the faction building the base? If it is a player faction, will you be able to pledge to it, like for the other factions? That is just the first questions i got right now.
@Highlyskeptical5 күн бұрын
Good questions. Without player or AI cooperative/ competitive interactions, seems like another grind.
@starfireix82075 күн бұрын
im starting to suspect this is only a mission type you can grab when the BGS state of the system is in Expansion (hence the name lol). I personally don't think this will be something players can establish like how typical base building is, but rather for expansion purposes. So my expectation on this content is at a 0 knowing Frontier.
@danilooliveira65805 күн бұрын
yeah, what I'm hearing is that it's just going to be player guided expansion, and you won't really own anything. it's not going to be like X4 where you need to manage the economy of the stations and bases you build and use the materials they produce, you just decide where things go.

i hope its not just grind to get a name in the system. And u get no money from it at all. So many npc uses our carrier why dont they also bring in money.

That containers and the cranes for moving these remind me of one thing: there is no ship in the game to move those things.

This would have been nice in 2018 and till now we should have Ship interiors and atmo planets with intelligent life... just place some assets on a lifless planet....
@jdevlin19105 күн бұрын
I don't want to but I agree, it looks pretty meh. Players will be excited to 'own' systems of course but the actual assets look pretty generic. May as well just let you 'buy' an already built up system.
@Lashmer5 күн бұрын
I've seen people responding to that with "Focus on the positives" or "You're too hard to please." The game's been out for 10 years. They could've 100% done ship interiors by now. I want to like this, but I don't trust it.

Cool so we can place assets on lifeless rocks for an exorbitant realtime upkeep cost. I think at this point it must just be spite keeping them from adding more variety to the types of planets we can land on. The fact that they show the station being constructed orbiting a lush blue planet you can't land on was absolutely intentional, to rub it in.

Frontier finally cooking! Only wish they had planets with some sort of atmosphere. And basic weather system. Who knows, maybe I'm the future!

1st, don't you have to do that with any and ALL MMO's? Sounds like you've picked the wrong game genre to play if that's a problem. 2nd, you seem to be a very hard to please. I'd hate to be a romantic interest of yours.

@mofabet36315 күн бұрын
@@SKYST0RY I can't agree completely. The game really needs mechanics that allow players to influence the world and create something of their own. This gives motivation to return to the game. No matter how much complex content is added, it can be completely completed and studied, and the content created by players is something dynamic and constantly evolving. I'm not saying that I would not like to see interiors and complex ecology on planets (and not identical corals that somehow colonized 90% of the galaxy) and so on. What the developers are doing now should significantly extend the life cycle of the game.

Watch the claim cost be 10 billion and upkeep cost 1 billion a week lol, it's a bit of an exaggeration but the grind to even start is prob gonna suck. As a solo player i know i won't have a chance in hell to do any of this, but it will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Also the colonization in colonia itself. Makes me a little sad thinking about it, love the rural vibes it gives off right now. Bound to happen eventually though, and it makes logical sense in the lore that it would continue growing.

I really hope they will manage to make certain new content in time as well. I mean looking at the cargo stuff as a planetary building - it seems like a pointless cosmetic on the planet's surface right now. If the planetary buildings could be modified and set to a purpose which benefits a player / community - not just the "okay whatever" security level and power play - that'd be most welcome

This could change the game. Come on FDev! I still have hope this game comes to more fruit. If they keep innovating on the ability to truly get player large scale org stuff happening and player controlled direction the game could grow like never before. They just need to keep building on what they have in Odyssey and this coming system.
