I see Elite Dangerous Horizons becoming as popular as football. Weekends being taken up just playing elite and completing the next big mission, because it rally is that addictive. I played the original and became elite on that " What a game that was ". I always prayed that it would be brought back with much better graphics. My one word to David Braben is keep the game content high and just keep it evolving with with the better graphics year after year. Do that and you really will go down in history!

My speculation from this video is that these things are Probably part of a network of autonomous Thargoid early warning system probes. It is probably meant to detect a hostile invasion fleet so that they would have sufficient time to prepare for defense.

There are thousands upon thousands of posts on the forum dedicated to solving the mystery of these things. There are community groups that are solely aimed at helping us understand what is it, and what it's for. You can't imagine what has been done, and what kind of experiments have been performed) It's incredible. Been following this stuff for a long time. Pretty good read I must say :D

The use of Morse code is interesting. Assuming these are alien in origin, it reveals that they intercepted and learned our earliest methods of broadcast communication. So if the artifacts broadcast Morse I'd have to assume they are trying to communicate information that is intended for us. A greeting? A warning? Very intriguing.

I get the feeling these will be tied in to first contact with the Thargoids (within E:D), and there are some hints to suggest that might happen this year. and if they do the Pleiades, and Obsidian Orbital, will be getting a lot more traffic

Everyone seems to have forgotten about the thargoids in E:D... They probably forgot Quirium (FSD fuel in the original games...) too. Mysterious materials from aliens? That disrupts mechanical things? Such as, oh, I don't know, frameshift drives? Used to knock someone out of, say, witchspace? Also, I've got some amateur friends that are excellent and picking out CW (morse code) from incredibly garbled static :P

What if the barnicles are just sprouts from under the planet, that the ailens live on merope (merope 5 c). but we cant see them because they live underground. if the artifacts point to merope, merope 5 c is the most active with the barnicles.

Ant, we have all seen how new updates bring new content that Frontier pre-announce before uploading to the game e.g. if they are going to release a ship in an update, then they will advertise as such. There is a lot of speculation and mythology surrounding the Unknown Artifact. This includes its transition from being rare to discover, to being almost not uncommon to find one if you know what you are looking for, the speculation about stations going haywire etc., would you agree that the truth surrounding the Unknown Artifact (Thargoid or otherwise) is something that Frontier would quietly slip into the game without advertising? Do we one day expect to hear from a CMDR, that they were attacked by unknown alien vessels whilst 50,000ly from the human bubble, whilst having no warning from Frontier that this kind of content has been placed into the game?
