I run with a Krait Mk2, FDL and Python. They're fairly similar while also being very unique (In looks, flight profile, hardpoint location, and general capability). I can do it all with these three and it's very easy to swap mods out to suit my needs. I would definitely say the Krait is a meta ship. Where we already had the big 3 large ships, we now have the big 3 in medium ships. For the cost of purchasing and fully outfitting a Cutter, you can purchase and full outfit these 3 medium ships.

The Krait2 is pure PvE powercreep. Theres no reason to bother with the Gunship or Crusader anymore. Luckily they didnt allso give her insane shields, saving the FDL's spot as king of PvP. And for anything "work" related, you just cant beat the massive internals of the Python, unless your using a Conda.

The FDL is faster and more manueverable than the Krait,. However the main point here is Krait has a fighter bay FDL not, Also Krait can pretty much permaboost with only 2 pips in engines. Personally I still think FDL has the edge in combat but to know for certain a few actual engagements need to be posted.

FDL intercepted my Krait full of cargo. I beat it in les than 30 seconds. Huge seeker missilles, 2x turret MC 3rd class, plus 2x 2nd class frag auto canons.

The fighter bay makes all the difference, fixed beam fighter with Elite level NPC just shreds ships and laughs at chaff. The cockpit is also normal and can stick a bunch of stuff in slots like cell banks, and AFMU and hull repair for extended PvE engagements. Really I prefer the Krait

I always loved the FDL until I had one. It is certainly a great ship, but in situations where I could only ever escape just in time with the FDL, I win every battle with the Krait Mk2. In addition, it is also quite useful as an explorer. For me, the switch from the FDL to the Krait Mk2 was definitely worth it.

am not sure plying with kids is best, they are way better than us and you can't swear and make stupid jokes :) NMS looks funny, i mean visually it doesn't appeal to me at all, probably i could overlook that, i was tempted to buy it, but i will wait for discounts plus 7 days to die a17 will be out next week (hopefully) and i want to play hell out of it first, love building options in that game, plus survival is always fun if you find right persons around.

In PvP: The fighter will probably not make a difference, since you have to give up on a ton of tank. In PvE: Are you crazy? 40+ extra DPS is 40+ extra DPS. And yes, this IS what you want. Conclusion: Pick the right tool for the job and save yourself a headache.

You don't have to give up a ton of tank if you hull tank and engineer. I've got 2,600 hp on my hull. 46% kinetic resist, 41% thermal. 3 Sheild boosters (thermal engineered). My npc pilot is elite in the fighter. She makes quite a bit of difference! We rip through npc FDL's like a turkey shoot. On a long enough time line, I've had my canopy blow out. But emergency air lasts 27 minutes. Plenty of time to finish a fight, retrieve the fighter and head back for repairs and cookies 🤪

fdl for sure the mamba doesnt have much manueverability, and coupled with the fact that its shields are less powerful, it is safe to say the fdl is the superior combat ship.

Krait is so far the best ship and this review is awesome cz honesty... I love fdl but I actually never purchased one cause... Cause... I damn hate the seat on a side of the cockpit! Ding it I hate them with all my guts. I don't mind the Fighter hangar just jeez move the seat in the middle!

Finally! Someone who hates off-center cockpits as much as me! I mean I can kind of understand in something like an Orca, but a combat-focused ship??? Hello! Being centered on target is CRUCIAL!

So how do you know which one is better if youve never actually flown both for an extended period of time? These 2 ships are as different as they can be, and theres much, much more to it than a fighter and the seat position. Sorry, but i am so sick and tired of people (particularly those who actually dont know) singing "default praises" to the Mk2.

FDL is good when you need a strong shielded ship, but Krait is more polyvalent, has best jump range and can carry fighters, that is a big +. For pvp I don't know and don't care, I don't play Elite for pvp.

Looks like FDL is better for FAoff exclusive pilots. I enjoy that style of flight and I was toying with getting the Krait but for agility the FDL has almost swung it for me. Just need to grind a little more 😁 Although the power dist is a bit of a worry?

not really, krait has higher but if your time on target is low then it doesn't matter, agility usually wins over power, but that really is pilot per pilot, depends on how you fly.

He’s absolutely right. I fly a FDL exclusively for combat, and the power distributor is more than enough, even more so if you choose to engineer it.

I like both, but now i'm using more Krait then FDL. Fighter bay can be very useful in some situations, specially when you are not focusing that much in combat.

Personally I despite the cockpit view in the FDL which is why I mostly use the FAS. I ended up getting good with FA off and silent running since that ship hardly has shields. I think the Krait will be my main ship for a while since it is new and the cockpit looks nice.

dsagent In VR, the FDL’s cockpit is one of the better ones, but on a flat screen, I think it’s one of the worst. Personally, I do my grinding on a flat screen and use a side screen for 3rd party websites/ED Engineer and VR for fun stuff, like combat and exploring. :o)

I didnt like Krait at first either but now its my goto combat ship. I run this hard point loadout with just a 6A shield grade 5 reinforced shield and can destroy anything that interdicts before it gets my shields down. You should give it a try it's crazy OP. 2x Large Frag Cannons Grade 5 Double Shot. 1x Large Torpedo Pylon with Reverberating Cascade Experimental. 2x Medium Rail Guns with Super Penetrator. I'd switch it to 6C biweave hull tank build with 1x 6A Shield Cell Bank for assassination missions.

For me krait was a game changer. Granted I tend to do PvE rather than PvP but been really impressed with krait. Also I prefer the hardpoints on krait. Still very close. Why FdL has such a small distributor I'll never know...

FDL is already a monster ship, doesn't need any boosts that will benefit combat. Would love to have a bigger fuel tank though...
