Saw Horizons dirt cheap and decided to hop back into the game. Was immediately lost. Your tutorials are being a great help. I decided to start clean instead of continuing my many years old abandoned save. To my surprise the Vulture has had a pretty dramatic price drop, I was scared it was due to some nerf I missed, but it's good to see it's still the beast I remember flying. It's my favourite ship. Keep up the good work, Commander, you're doing the community a solid.

I'd personally recommend the high capacity corrosive multi-cannon / efficient beam combo. I have great fun with it. Use the beam to drop shields and toast small ships hulls then fire up the MC to shred through Anaconda hulls. :-D

Thats what I do . I go for the trusty multicannon and pulse laser or beam laser setup . Overcharged . A flow control experimental helps with power draw

i just put this together, without thinking too much and long range burst lasers with inertial impact is an absolutely horrendous combination. the long range give you the ability to hit up to 6km, but the jitter caused by the inertial impact means you can shoot all you want, but you realistically wont hit anything unless its a few hundred meters away well within the damage falloff of the lasers had you not used long range.

Great video, I did everything the same except gimballed efficient beam with increase damage, and gimblaed multicannon with corrosive and increase damgage, hitting is better than not hitting. LOL

Long range bursts combined with the massive jitter of inertial doesn't seem too great. I've actually gone short range. 75% extra damage. Because of the jitter, you'll need to stay up close anyway.

Finally I’ve finished my engineering material farming and the grind on key engineers for combat. I have made a frag-cannon assassin chieftain, but still want to mod my vulture for Haz Rez bounty hunting so this vid is so perfect for me, thanks Ex. Love your superb content mate. just tested the updated build that exigeous commented and its incredible, took down an elite level federal corvette and came out the fight with 100% hull and only 90% shields with cell banks to spare

I run 2 large efficient beams with thermal vent and fast charge bi-weave shields with all resistance boosters. With the ships engines engineered your maneuverability keeps you out of the way of their weapons and your thermal vent beams keep you very cold and hard to target, all the while doing constant damage. Admittedly the time to kill is a little longer but I never need to go to station to reload. That's why I also use this ship in conflict zones.

Very nice video. I have given the PA version a run but I still need lots of practice to be able to land the plasma on targets with consistency. One other thing to grade 5 the shield boosters don't you need to have either Didi Vatermann or Mel Brandon unlocked? Neither are listed at 0:25. Perhaps this is something that has changed in the last 2 years.

it's only nice if you are planning on fighting other players in it.. and even then, wrong weapons for that. Chaff is useless against NPC's and if you are fighting other players you want PA's, not lasers

You could also do Phasing Sequence on the plasma (would recommend on both). Can be hilariously effective against NPC's with their weak hull.

All makes sense apart from engineered long range inertial impact. The inertial impact mod adds 3% jitter which means very few hits at long range.

Of course not simple thing to acquire if you don't happen to have those lying around, but I've been experimenting with multi-cannons combined with APA that's engineered to a matching shot speed. That's a pretty fun combo and they seem to also run out of ammunition about the same time.

Hello fellow commander! Currently I'm trying this build. I swapped long range for over charge on the pulse cannon since I try to practice being close behind my target all the time. After some engineering I noticed that it's near impossible to land any shots on target further away than 200m. Does long range decrease the jitter? on my build, I can't even land a quarter of my shots even if I have my target dead on in front of me.. would long range fix this issue, please help! :) Many thanks in advance for answers! o7

Bit late, nope jitter stays awful. If you want to stick with inertial, engineer them for short range and stay REALLY close.. or , as i recommend, go with efficient PA's (if you go plasma slugs, add a class 2 or 1 fuel tank)

I use 2 x MC overcharged with incendary and corrosive rounds Thermal biweave with multiweave and 2 x heavy duty boosters. Reactive composite heavy duty , hull reinforce and shield . 2 module reinforce. small fuel scoop . chaff and point defence. It does fine in Res sites and CZ s against any elite npc ship . I dont mind re arming the ammo at staions. It gives me chance to repair any damage as well . Then I just go back out and repeat . Its like shooting fish in a barrel

Also fun, 2 Short Range, Inertial Impact Fixed Burst Lasers. Upping the DPS to 85 it easily rapes the shields of any ship. Warning though, with Short Range you have to stay in their face at 1.5km or less, but trust me you won't be in their face for long.

Not really, you could use the Guardian module reinforcements but as those require power and the Vulture is so low on power you'll likely have to skip them.

No, not at all - as you can't aim or select targets. I did this with the camera suite and while you can fly your ship this way it's not useful in combat at all. I just did it for a short time to get these shots, if you notice I'm missing constantly with the fixed laser.

I think i get you - you can lock your camera and then get control of your ship with one of the modes (forget what it's call off the top of my head) so that's how I did it. You have 3 modes - camera moves around ship, camera moves with ship, camera is still and ship moves around it.

I run this for about 10 minutes with the burst lasers in this build and hated it. I had 2 x C3 gimballed efficient beams with thermal vent on my carrier alteady and used them instead. So much more effective. The rest of the build is great. Never thought I would enjoy flying the smaller ships again after upgrading to the bigger ones. Had the vulture in the beginning before I knew about the engineers and never looked back but now I have have most engineers unlocked and pinned, I wish I had done this sooner.

What is the strategy for Pve when you have to travel? just pick up a fuel scoop everytime before leaving the zone working? build a long range jumper that you use to transfer ship?

Well that's a bit hard to say - this would be more fun, a bigger ship would earn you kills, ie rank, faster. But if you're simply after rank Thargoid Scouts pay 4x what an elite NPC pays and they are far faster to kill (I have a tutorial on it)

Great review again. I was wondering about the balance between resistances: for a pve bounty hunter would you try to even out the resistances or maybe even higher on thermal. What about the vulture for pvp? Lots of question I know! I have a pac frags build by the way with armored pp.

You pretty much always want balanced resistance, almost more so for PvE as NPCs will rarely use PA's. Going this route gives you a much faster recharge time and the high resistance makes them stronger overall. And yes, the Vulture is viable for PvP but it is a tough fight given it's limited hardpoints. Pacifiers are great but just won't have the ammo capacity to take down a serious PvP build, PAs are generally the choice there.

That's a big question - for a "full" build you need damn near all of them, but unless you're trying to get into high level PvP you don't really "need" a fully engineered ship. Start with the "first four", Felicity, Tod, Elvira and Dweller. You can build some very capable ships using just those 4 engineers.

Attention Commanders! I tried the build with the two burstlasers as shown here in the video and they are completly USELESS. On paper it is a good idea, the longrange lasers to attack from a safe distance and "inertal" as the experimental effect in order to damage the hull. Nevertheless the experimental effect has an disadvantage, because it adds a "spread" effect, that causes the lasers to be more inaccurate. This means in praxis that if your crosshair is in the middle of the target at a range of 1.5 kilometers ca. 50% of the shots dont connect, because scattering is so imense. This makes it unuseable and you should really go for the other two options they are way more reliable. Nevertheless the rest of the video is good.

Oh that's easy - overcharged. If you have 3 add corrosive to one of them (that doesn't stack) and incendiary to the others as that converts some of the damage to thermal so they'll be great against shields too.

Would always pimp FSD to boot speed. FSD Range is not important for bounty hunting but to get away fast is very important.

As far as I know boot speed only affects FSD cooldown. It doesn't make the actual FSD charging time faster.

Yes and no. You can do that but if you balance out the resistances you'll wind up with overall less hull even with proper engineering. Really it's Reactive or Military for the most part.

Well again it's not just about the thermal resistance - you have to take the base strength into account then the resistance stacks upon that. So again overall you'll have a much stronger hull in terms of all values with reactive/heavy duty. That said - if you're building a PvE only ship go Military Grade with HD/Deep as it's just not going to matter that much and it'll lower your rebuy quite a lot if you do bin it and die. Finally yes, you can make mirrored work, you'll just need to use more boosters to plug the kinetic and explosive holes - and do NOT underestimate missiles as NPCs use them VERY often. That explosive damage can REALLY hurt!

Nah, that's normal for the vulture, it's power plant,even at A-rating is too small.Just set your Frame Shift Drive to priority 2(or as your lowest priority)in the modules menu,you don't need it on while your weapons are deployed anyway

Could you run faster boot sequence on the FSD if you need to get the hell outta there? The issue I always have with combat is that I really suck. I've been getting a bit better flying my FAS with fixed shards taking out what feels like 35 trillion scouts this last week, but I always seem to cap at about 12 of them before I feel I have to go and repair and restock, so I'd be tempted to use both weapons on gimballed cos I'm a dirty scrub who needs to "git gud" but I'm too easily distracted to keep playing one style and I flit back and forth between combat, exploring, trading, mining and smuggling way too much to make a sustained push at improvement...

So let's be clear - faster boot sequence doesn't effect the time it takes to change for a jump but rather the time it takes the module to power back online if powered off or rebooted. Charge time is always the same and only varies by mass lock factor of another ship (no variability when high waking).

Many get confused by this - where it's useful is on a combat or trade ship - combat let's say you don't have enough power to run your FSD with your weapons and you need/want it to come online quickly (say you're pirating and need to quickly chase your pray). For trade let's say you get Grom bombed (the FSD reboot missile) your reboot is super fast now so you can still escape. Both very specialized but both useful.

Honestly I"m not sure, I just manually put stuff in EDEngineer as I rarely need to upgrade an entire ship at once.

yes there is ... look at the upper right corner of build sheet under the word "settings" there is a small icon that looks like a G5 engineer symbol if you hover over it the text says " materials needed for this build" click the icon. Then you will get a pop up window click the "send to EDEngineer" button. (EDEngineer is a great third party tool that should be installed) That will create a shopping list within the EDEnginneer tool for you

yes i just checked myself clicked on engineered link posted above and followed previous instructions. The exp. effect is also listed at the bottom of shopping list, usually a smallerish lighter purple color with the text " exp bl ii " . pretty sure all exp effeccts are small tabs but I know for sure that they are there and you can also hover over them to read what each one is.

you might have to make your EDEngineer window size bigger to see all of the tabs at the bottom. click the purple gear icon, click " toggle window mode " and that will allow you to resize the window . On bigger builds like this there is a lot that has to be displayed

I dont think this was tested. Great vídeo but i think in weapon department you ll have better options. Inertial impact for long range is not a good mix.

you stated a misnomer. It's well known that NPC's ignore chaff and silent running when shooting at you.. if you want chaff, that's great but it's only useful against players.. walk onto Mobius discord and make that statement and you will get laughed off of it (or at least be corrected by more than a few pilots). NPC's are all we fight and we have tested this time and again. I do agree with Fererra a bit with Inertial Impact and Long range for Burst lasers.. Most of the burst will outright miss at ranges of 1000m and greater. Inertial impact is most effective at point blank range.. something the Vulture is great at. Inertial Impact basically turns your burst laser into an energy based Frag Cannon, with all the drawbacks.

It does, but if you have that many credits you may consider something like the Krait II instead. More hard points and shield/hull means quicker/safer kills. That said I LOVE the Vulture as it's just so fun to fly.

I'm on Git Gud mode, once you learn how to use Plasma, you don't want to use other guns anymore, especially against larger ships.

While I LOVE Pacifiers and actually run them often on my Vulture there's 2 big issues - first their range is shit. In an up close fight they are fantastic, especially with double shot/overcharged and screening shell. Second the real issue is in PvP you will never have enough ammo with them to win a fight.
