Thousands of Fleet Carriers are now spread across the galaxy, along with a huge concentration of them around the new Low Temperature Diamond Hotspots, where players are earning up to 250 million credits per hour. I was curious though, to see where all these carriers were parking up! :)

Not always true. Money only buys ships and modules. Grinding for materials for engineering for example isn't make easier whether you have 1 million or 10 billion credits.

I don't play ED to grind I play to apreciate the silence of space for the discovery of new planets for the illusion of going into the endless universe. It's something that gives me plaser after a stressful day of desk work, after putting my daughter in bed i play 2h to 3h its so relaxing it's like therapy to me. Love the game, I play it in a ps4 with a hotas4 a enormous TV in a lightness living room. Boots on the ground would be nice. 😏 Sory my English

Fun side effects. Grinders are paying Fleet Carriers to haul them back and forth to sell locations and paying for the journey in Tritium and LTDs. I'm running about 850m in 2 hours using a cutter. Fcs changed the dynamic. Thanks for the updates Ant! 🐜 ❤

I laser mined 454,819,644 worth of Painite in the double hot spot in 1 hour 14 minutes. Parking in the neighboring system is way faster than parking IN the mining system. High wake right out of the ring and a short super cruise to your fleet carrier.

I use my FC for everything. It's a base with all your shit and services everywhere you go. Exploration? 500ly a pop and you can store tons of fuel. Mining? I load up 4k to 5 k tons and park over the selling spot. Combat? Use the space from fuel scoops for shield banks. Etc..

Subsurface mining can possibly double this amount, at least in the case of mapped runs. The buff to sub-surface mining was pretty insane.

If you want to push that number even higher, go for some Sub-Surface Displacement mining. I was able to net 322T in my Anaconda yesterday in about an hour, and hitch a ride to the highest selling system. Made a cool ~550M credits in an hour. It’s goood stuff. Absolutely loving this update, really fun to see people so active with the carriers and such

Do you go for sub-surface deposits exclusively then? I mine them when I encounter them, but i feel like it's not really common and I run out of ammo long before I've filled my hold. Is there some trick to finding them or same strategy as for core asteroids? Edit: Wow ok, I equipped three sub-surface weapon thingies to carry more ammo and simply probed every yellow-orange-glowy asteroid. Didn't find a ton of deposits, I'd say around one every three glowy asteroids, but boy do they deliver, had my cargo hold of 256t filled within 1h20min even though I still failed at the mini-game some of the times. I personally find the core mining mechanics even more engaging, but this is also great!! :D

I just posted the exact same comment before reading yours. Also means you can ditch the fuel scoop for a free slot. You can easily taxi back and forth as so many carriers post their jump schedules in the sell and mining systems

A problem with the fleet carriers you could maybe address to fdev seeing as you have a big following is that its impossible to find the closest one while out in the black. The galaxy map filter is beyond useless since it expects you to see a tiny yellow dot in a sea of grey. What I would like to see is it showing the ten closest carriers with something like a bookmark while the filter is on.

@@phantasmindonesia3974 Nah, the game is what you choose to make it. For example, some people don't mine, they don't run cargo constantly, they don't do combat -they just explore. Hence, no grind. I got into an Asp Explorer in no time, fully fitted and went off. Now the engineering aspect takes time, I do it in batches in between more adventures. The scenery, the planets and moons to explore, unknown adventures await! Screw the grind, plenty of players doing that already, good luck to them all.

I'm really hoping that Frontier have learnt from past mistakes. Elite is already well known for its grind (and not much else!) I'm hoping that Odyssey adds depth and fun to the game as it desperately it. If done properly this could open Elite up to a much larger audience, better for us and better profits for Frontier.

The system map and '1' menu can't cope - they weren't designed to contain this many entries and it totally breaks the UX. The beta should have dealt with this, but Frontier had the ridiculous idea to make people earn a fleet carrier in the beta, which restricted the number of people able to do the actual testing!

I just left Col 285 this morning, I went there just after its discovery when there was only a handful of FCs there, in about a day it exploded in popularity. I can't be too sure how much you make there but the LTD3 overlap is very easy to land in, in it I think 1/5 asteroids DIDNT have ltd in them, so no need to prospect any unless you want that bonus multipier. In about 3-4 hours with only 16 cargo space in a cobra Mk3 I made just over 60 million. Each run only takes a few minutes and you can legit leave the hotspot, sell to a nearby FC and be back mining within 2 minutes, I mean you'll be getting about 570K each which is almost half value, but if you think about there being absolutely no need to travel out of the system, it actually works out to be a decent way to earn quick cash

Might want to switch to SSD mining in this hotspot. Core asteroids with 3 or 4 SSD can net you at least 60 LTDs in just a matter of minutes. (The current SSD buff for tritium also works on ltds, and the yields are insane)

I was making 120mil an hour with tritium cargo trading (after it's price fell/got nerfed), but it was too volatile. You can sell tritium to some carrier's who are running low and put a price in their name, but even more volatile (most carriers don't accept public docking, lower prices than stations, and only buying a limited amount of tritium). I don't really need money but it did help me fund a 2nd anaconda without denting my credits. The conda I turned into a 77LY jumpaconda, via some odd engineering and internals, my new long distance ship. Now I'm 5k LY away farming G5 raw mats to finish my corvette off. So, thanks tritium for the quick cash injection. This games like a never-ending corridor of grinding lol. Have seen a silly amount of FCs in some systems, not for me at the moment though.

You can hitch a ride on a fleet carrier, even in solo. If you go to system chat there’s always multiple fleet carriers ferrying miners back and forth to the sell points.

I mined in my cutter for a while without a FC. There is a planetary port around 50-70 ly away where I changed my limpet controllers for a fuel scoop and a guardian FSD booster. Took me around 8 jumps from there to the station to sell my LTDs. I'm sure you can use a FC for refitting but you never know how long they stay there :)

And this is what i didn't want to see in this game.. When you see thousands of fleet carriers it makes them less special when they are just littering every single system in the bubble. It would've been better if they were a squadron based asset instead where lots of people worked together to achieve one. And therefor it would've been special to see them. But you know how this playerbase is, they just want more and more constantly and are never satisfied. And good lord if you were actually forced to work for your assets. I feel like the original vision and feel for Elite Dangerous is gone. Everything is too easy now and a new player can have an Anaconda in less then a week. Back then you had to actually do stuff like rare trading and play the game regularly to get anywhere, but that is seen as ''horrible grind'' in many players eyes, they just want everything at once.

Taxis. Fleet carriers are offering rides back to the system with the highest prices and a ride back. I don’t have a FC (yet!) so I’ve got a max capacity mining ship. I’m not worried about jump range or fuel scoops because the system chat is flooded with offers for a ride. Also FC’s are offering mining modules. And a few are offering weapons or will deploy a combat ship so that gankers can get some frontier justice.

Demand/price for LTDs have been good at large stations, so I changed up my long range rat Anaconda to a laser/sub-surface miner (still have a Phantom and AspX for ratting). I don't have a FC, but with 288 capacity and 34 ly laden jump range, I can make it back to my destination in 7-9 jumps. My best run was 455,000,000 for a full run in just over an hour (including travel time). Subsurface deposits are insane right now. The best asteroid I found had four LTD subsurface deposits and 32% medium, and I gained 105 LTDs out of it! I haven't tested it, but some people claim that the subsurface deposits are affected by overlapping hotspots, so this is still the place to be. EDIT: Plus, the subsurface mini-game makes it so much less mind-numbing, but it's not worth it if you can't hit your marks and waste deposits too often.

With the update a new ore was introduced, tritium, they had to reshufle all hotspots so the game would generate tritrium hotspots. Basicaly borann hotspots are diferent now and no longer has a triple ltd

What sucks is ehen you have to look at your system map. Its taking my high end machine and gigabit internet 30-50sec on average to load that screen. And what makes it dangerous is that whatever your controls were set at when you select that button is what they will be.

I mean if you have 5b to buy the FC why would care about the best money making method? I'm a new player and I do these things to get the ships I want and then I want to explore the game as it is a sandbox game and do some combats! When you have 5b or more i think you can buy most of decent ships and idk what the use of more money would be after that...

I wonder a bit why people mine in open play mode and risk to "meet" people that are not so nice xD Is there a reason why nobody mines in solo mode? The npc pirates are not really a threat and its easy to escape the interdiction.

You can sell what you mine to a fleet carrier. Then the owner of the fleet carrier sells it on the market.

Yep, Mining is now wayyyyyyyyy more profitable with SSDM I have gotten 100t of LTD out of one rock. When I get a FC if this stays buffed I can take a few minutes to Mine a full python then jump out to a sell system for full price all within shorter time frames, along the way I could get tips from players taking a ride to do the same
