I don't know this game. Can someone explain me a little ? Why everyone in the comments are so happy to see him going in this sort of storm ?
@ALEX_VII Жыл бұрын
There are aliens in Elite Dangerous called Thargoids, and we are currently in the Second War with them. From the beginning of the game, Thargoid sensors and probes have been found in a bubble around Pleiades nebula, scanning the passing ships. About 6 years ago, players discovered many wrecked Thargoid motherships called Titans, in and around the Pleiades - remnants of the First Thargoid War. And now we have working Titans after years of waiting.

@@ALEX_VII nice, maybe I should give another try to the game. I tested the game some times ago and I abandonned because I couldn't finish the tutorial : I was frustrated because the VR controls were insanely hard to handle.
@ALEX_VII Жыл бұрын
@@Mr_Sim The first thing you should do in Elite (and any video game in general) is to change the controls for yourself. The ships, ground vehicles and FPS have a lot of functions you can bind for better experience in this game (binds for one mode do not generally affect two others, so buttons can be reused). So many, that my entire keyboard is used, including 18 G-keys and 2 side buttons on the mouse. And because of that I only play in VR during exploration - not a lot of buttons on HOTAS. Another thing I would advice, is to disable side panels turning on when looked at - it can be usefull in VR, but you also start controlling menus in them instead of the ship, when it happens. Lastly, the game is not user friendly at all when it comes to information on stations and ships. Third party tools (like INARA.cz or coriolis.io) are an essential part of the game and it's mostly unplayable without them.

Don't forget the Head and Shoulders.
@fatfreddyscoat7564 Жыл бұрын
You can look this up but there was a deleted scene from ID that said that all computer technology was developed from that ship they had from the last time the aliens visited, which was why Goldblum could write a virus that was compatible with the mothership. Why they deleted that pivotal 30 second scene is beyond me.
@vihaanreyansh6244 Жыл бұрын
@@fatfreddyscoat7564 Yeah, but from a sci-fi nerd perspective; that scene was removed, so it's not cannon. From a computer nerd perspective; I could pick this apart all day, and I even did when I was studying IT in the late 90s, from the fact that the aliens having spent years researching our technology, to the fact that human technology is heavily influenced by human intellect and physiology, ie the base 10 system existing purely because we have 10 fingers, it was not at all an optimal number to use! Alien technology could be similarly influenced, which would make reverse engineering it extremely difficult because of the lack of frame of reference. Or worse, their systems may have been designed and written and controlled by AI - which would be impossible to reverse engineer, without the help of an AI. Also the aliens have possibly millions of years of experience in every aspect of warfare against species they deem alien, including cyberwarfare as they started by hacking earth's satellites. So they have actual battlefield experience, hacking the systems of aliens! The reason why human technology is hackable by humans is that technology is standardised and documented and the people who write it are all educated the same way, because systems are supposed to be used by other people. Things like protocols, ports, APIs etc are designed so that other people can legitimately exploit systems, to make the system useful for their purposes, which in turn inadvertently leaves exploitable vulnerabilities open for systems to be accessed illegitimately by hackers. A 600 Km long, spacefaring, alien mothership staging an invasion of a technological species, where they are completely aware of our current intelligence and technological level, is going to have protocols in place to defend the system - as a general operational level ruleset - containing parallel systems, ringfences, firewalls, air-gapped systems for redundancy, encryption, and likely an AI, or several AI monitoring the whole thing, using hardware with speeds we couldn't currently comprehend, because they're likely not constrained by silicon. Also, there should be no means to inject your code, any data transferred between the craft and the mothership shouldn't be able to leave the system that controls the docking system and enter any systems that controls the mothership's security, and assuming you could somehow pull this off with your natty Mac OS8 the ship's security systems should be capable of closing it down so fast that your commands don't even reach the systems you are trying to exploit before the system intercepts them. Even the human-built space shuttle had 5 AP-101 computers computers on board, four would run avionics calculations in parallel, if one produced a calculation that was different from the other three, that computer's calculation was disregarded and the majority calculation was used. This is because in space silicon chips can be struck with high energy particles that that can skew computational results. So humans, knowing this could happen. built a defense for this. Decades ago. Because we estimated this was a possible point of failure. The notion that a vastly technologically superior species, that frankly makes enemies everywhere it travels, would overlook the possibility of being hacked is leagues beyond absurd. Urgh, I've just realised how much I've written. Oh well, enjoy, or TL:DR, your choice.

ok, this proves something i have thought for years, the various "oddities" especially the thargoid heart like structures at lagrange points are more than likely how the thargoid ships are engineered and grown, especially with this having its own lagrange point type phenomenon, also shows all the structures are either these things that crashed, or that are going through a spiderlike growing and shedding phase. when thargoids first landed and the first discoveries of planetary sites and the slowly released upgrade varients i came up with a theory that each varient is just the evolution of the previous variant, Scouts crash land and seed the ground for the Barnacles (missing white ball thing on crashed scouts) they slowly grow underground and burst forth, the minerals extracted being used in later processes, each season thargoids come and go, giving them energy and taking thier refuse, like parent birds at a nest, each season they grow more clusters, some will be fed hearts from lagrange points and become the various interceptors dependant on how many hearts (also dependent on thier genetic origin point, the 2 thargoid species mentioned in lore) others will continue to grow in size and complexity, eventually emerging as a thargoid structure, with its own drones attending its needs and removing outgrown carapace. This idea also gave a reason of the thargoids nomadic nature, more as a way to visit each nursery at each feeding and birthing cycle, and in this, non of the aggression was ever an attack, it was possibly just insectlike drone activity trying to clean away refuse from and the feeding of thier larval forms.
