The eggs will hatch. Whatever they hatch will use the map to find out where they need to go. And the whole structure that they are in isn't only a base, but a ship itself. Just a theory though.

If the system on the left is merope and the system on the right is sol as it has eight planets and earth with the moon right next to it in the image and the bottom centre is the system he's currently in (HIP 14909) is it possible to triangulate a position between all of these systems and see if it leads to the mystery top system or planet. Also I know this is just my far out theory but is there an easy way for this to be noticed by some of the big groups like canonn who would be willing to work the theory

Not Sol... someplace else. If it were Sol... there are MANY more moons in our system then the single one shown in the message. Perhaps it will be the Col 70 home system that the UP's reference (we'll know when we find the permits :) ).

Went out there, activated the machine like Obsidian did there and as i went outside with my SRV, a Thargoid ship appeared and scanned mySRV. Unfortunately I have no video of that. Anyone else had that experience and have a proof of this?BTW love your videos Obsidian. Please keep up this excellent work. I'm sure we all appreciate your efforts in making these videos. :)

What if the flower ships aren't to blame for the recent attack given that the green corrosion on the Fed ships is also present on the derilict bases, and the flower ships are there to investigate the distress call just as the players are investigating the distress call? The ships that have attacked the Feds are the same ships that brought down the three crashed flower ships. Just a thought but I'd rather not go to war over a case of "Wrong place, wrong time."

That seems kinda logical because of the transmissions. I wish I could visit the locations, but I'm too terrified of getting blasted to hell by NPC bandits or other players. I don't want to engage in combat, I just want to explore the galaxies in the games universe. I wish Elite Dangerous added just an exploration portion game mode with no threats.

My guess it was a mobile industrial area of some sort. It probably was building at least Corvette/Clipper-class or maybe even capship-class starships. It has likely exhausted all the planet's useful resources and the Scavengers are ROVs picking any remaining useful materials before the factory ship leaves. I'm sure that the central structure is the starship itself and everything else are waste products and off-casts from the ship fabrication process. Why can't you get into the most of them? Simple: The factory ships are getting ready to leave and the inner airlock doors were sealed. The one discovered by the Canonn group is likely active. The display they found may be a navigational aid or it could be a strategic map showing targets identified by the UAs and UPs. It is quite possible that the Bugs are mass-producing heavy combat ships; why is anyone's guess but I suspect those maps might help players figure out where they're planning to strike first.

Was just watching an ED video I saw in the sidebar, a video of some cmdrs screwing around with a flower ship at the barnacle site. When the poster entered freecam mode and got an up close look of the flower ship, I noticed that there seem to be 4 spindly green... well, they look like tethers of some sort, reaching back to the witchspace portal. Don't know if anyone else has seen this, or if there's any speculation about it and if it reveals anything about how Thargoids travel. My huuuuuuge stretch of a theory is that the light-show/map inside the base is a map of the Thargoid's home galaxy, and that they've managed to figure out witchspace enough to be able to cross immeasurable distances to other galaxy's for whatever their reason may be... i.e. the milky way. And those tethers are some sort of link back to their galaxy. It's a massive stretch, I know, but I felt like speculating. Super excited for all of this to pan out.

Considering an SRV really isn't that small, those tunnels inside that structure are massive. I noticed a large amount of fog/mist inside. I think they are also slowly adding things that will lead to dealing with atmosphere in the far future.

Frontier should have focused more on things like this for Odyssey. I refuse to buy it but my main concern isn't the normal things I hear about re: Odyssey's deployment; instead it's the possibility that Frontier has now just dumped all their "give-a-shi**" into the bin so they could appease players and get paid, rather than putting actual thought and art into the game as seen in this video. Could the map be Barnard's Loop? Only reason I say that is because 1) the loop has a very similar shape. 2) each one of the five Thargoid base locations all have an unobstructed view of Barnard's Loop, and other nebula in its vicinity, and 3) all of the systems in it were permit logged After being free & open. I'm just trying to think out of the proverbial box.

Awesome. Is anybody else still having problems with the background resolution bug ? The backgrounds still looking low res Barnards loop and other nebula are still hazy and even most of the background stars. It's totally taking the Emersion out of the game for me and I thought they would have at least sorted this out with the latest update 😓
