Great content, can't wait for more! Mysteries like these are what originally brought me to Elite and since some of the permit-locked maps have been leaked a week ago, I find myself looking into those topics again with a similar itch of wonder that I had back then in 2016. Really hope Frontier is working on developing stories like this and have not abandoned it, but videos like this give me hope that there is still a lot to be figured out and be discovered. The only reason I don’t speculate about Elite more is because it gets my hopes up for cool story lines and things Frontier could do which makes what they actually do far more disappointing.

I’m constantly amazed at just how much content Frontier puts into elite. Voice acting, secret comms beacons, etc, but because they have no mechanics or story that nudges the player towards some of these things, even if not all, most casual players think the game is empty and ultimately pointless.

There used to be little nudges. Once I found an article in a station in the station news (there used to be local news in the stations). It was a about a woman missing....it led me to a comms beacon many systems over which in turn led me to a pirate base...where I learned what happened to the woman....was very engaging and fun following the breadcrumbs......we need more of that.....

Boog Smith EXACTLY! Which is exactly why they got rid of the news stuff / galnet after they did the series of articles about the guy who stole a ship to go find raxxla and people (myself included) tried tracking him down / following him even though they never intended for their to be any real game connection. At least that was the excuse FD gave when they first cut galnet.

Boog Smith I started over on pc a little while back after not having played for like 6-12 months and it’s amazing how much stuff there is that I remember following as it came out, but there’s no way to really do that after the fact other than videos like these. For new players the only way to learn about elite lore/mysteries is out of game or randomly stumbling across something. which I highly doubt they’d figure out something like an unregistered comms beacon only playing at certain times, needing a certain thargoid object to get into a surface site, how to complete the guardian ruin missions, etc. you HAVE to use out of game resources because everything in elite is built for the collective community to solve, not an individual player.

Well you have to have the internet in order to pa ythe game so i presume people would google or use youtube to find these stories. Agreed though they could of added some game mechanic for players to find the story. Tbh most of the comments i see where people say the game is poor are from star citizen players. Ive seen people fabricate images to attempt to prove the game is pointless only to find out that the image is fake. Its almost like Chris Roberts hires trolls to do this.

I know a guy on PS4 that actually made an ambush to a group of black flight ships. 10 G5 heavy ships. They destroyed 1 of the 3 enemy ships. They lost 5 commanders and the remaining 5 fled very damaged.

@@_MRK87 so I was told. Recently I was able to face my own share of weird NPCs. Nothing to that level. But there is a special task force when you get a galactic bounty. That was nasty.

I know its a little late for this video. But if any CMDRs are interested in the Black Flight mystery, then please upvote this particular issue: issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/21259 Its about Hyford's Cache bug. A long forgotten mystery bread crumb trail stretching all the way from the Pleiades to Colonia. It is undoubtly the Black Flight. Resolving this 3 1/2 year long, unresolved bug presents the strongest, existing probability to unlocking the HIP 22460 permit yet available. Unless there is another, unnoticed bug further down this bread crumb trail that has yet to be encountered that prevents further advancement. Again.

The recordings found recently definitely sound old, as in they correspond to when thargoids first returned. It feels like fdev meant these to be founds a few years ago. I guess odyssey development put everything on hold

Been binge watching as much lore as possible lately, loving it. Question? Other than the CODEX, does Fdev have an actual lore “book” I’ve looked at Drew’s stuff. I’m pretty old, I recall the book that came in the original, was just a kid then, I’m sure I trashed it. Is there an actual elite cannon? Like Star Wars per say? Or are we left to speculate? (Witch I’m totally diggin’ anyway)

Well nothing from the older games have been confirmed as cannon other than the things we see in the current game. Some of the older stuff such as the many alien species have been removed. We dont even know that the Dark wheel novel is regarded as fully cannon anymore because of Frontiers lack of information on the topic. The only thing i will say in regards to confirming stuff as cannon is to use the in game lore entries. Short answer is no... but use the in game codex. Glad your enjoying the channel anyway.

I'd say Victoria's Song probably wasn't attacked by Thargoids. If it was, the recording would be more like, "What is that ship? I've never seen anything like it?" and not referring them as a "security vessel." Also, I would expect the megaship to show signs of Thargoid attack (green goo, etc.) if they were attacked by 'goids.

When you suggest the Thargoids cold be responsible for the attack on the Victoria's Song, have the Thargoids ever been known to capture and use human ships in a covert way? I';m pretty sure they had windows on the Pandora and the captain believed they were under arrest to start with, I doubt if she saw Thargoids, she would be talking about her having proper documents. This was a black opps, oops can't have that now can we, operation, head to toe. I think you've been spot on with most everything else you've presented in your vids, but, this being a Thargoid attack, now who's using red herrings? Good stuff though.

So Victoria's Song was contracted to investigate the anomaly by the Federation, I can see how that would raise doubt to Black Flight being involved, myself as well. Every faction who get wind of this will send people, overt and covert, but only a few will be willing to murder. Thargoids, they seem territorial, is this near or in Thargoid territory (I'm just learning about the lore and borders)? You said it yourself, unrecognized signal, including Thargoid. It was human, no doubt I'm going to have to binge watch all your vids this weekend, damn you, I had yard work planned, but it did snow last night soooo..thanx for the excuse to wait till next weekend to rake leaves.
