Yeah, wow, you must not play much multiplayer then, right? Made me think, is that a failing of the game that such a basic feature (at least to those of us that play a lot of mulitplayer) isn't either obvious or explained by the game?

@@Exigeous I completely agree. Elite completely fails in teaching many of these things. If it weren't for reddit and forums and lots of steam threads... I would not be where I am today. The excellent community behind Elite had actually kept me in the game. Without them, I would have given up after 30 hours.

Okay, spotted a few things missing: 1 Winging up via Squadron Menu 2 Turning ON Wing Beacon in Ship Panel prior to winging up 3 Targeting Wing Beacon for Dropout of Supercruise WITHOUT Navlock 4 Using Navlock to auto-engage FSD when flying through Wingman's wakes (low and High)

I have a question regarding Wings in exploration. Say you split up from your wingman and the both of you take separate routes to the same destination. Will profits upon selling the exploration data contribute to your wingman, and your wingman data to yourself? Does this also count if you have a multicrewed ship?

I play solo and used to only play assassination missions (because they’re the most fun for me) and now all I get are wing missions and none of my friends are willing to get ED so I’m stuck basically doing nothing

I am teaching a friend just starting out. While the 3x exploration is happening this month I want to wing up with him so he can follow along while teaching. Is this possible to do in a wing as long as we both scan the planet? And how will that affect the 3X exploration data? Need to drop out of wing before turning in data? It will be my first time in a wing. Has anyone done this December 3X exploration in a wing yet?

So you can't give a friend or a wing mate anything? And if that's the case then how did the slaver incident happen? I was told that slaver would meet up with slaver somehow in the starter systems and somewhere between there and the slaver's fleet carrier, the slaver would give the slaver a ship set up for mining and a super shit jump range and thats how they were stranding them with where ever the fleet carrier was at in the middle of nowhere.

Ok hoping someone can help explain something..me and a friend picked a wing combat mission. We saw each other in real space, side to side in our ships, but then we got to the mission target, we were both looking at the right target but name, but not in the same place. There were two identical targets and we were at each target separately. This surely isn't how wing missions work. Surely we should be at the same target, helping each other out. Or have I got this wrong?

*Great tutorial!* HELP?: Today we (wing of 3) had problems jumping to nav-locked wing-man (fm one sys to another) where no matter how you do it, it never works... Every time we tried it, not only did it fail to pull the other person into the next system but the person would be dropped out of super cruise in the old system while the leader jumped ahead to next system). Everyone in wing had beacons on.... We tried both SELECTING the jumper and their wake signal or NOT SELECTING them... Nothing worked... *_Any ideas???_* 😳😥 .............................................. Sad that all these years later nav-lock jumping is still glitched!...

Okay, I'm going to bitch; I dispise that the Wing can only be 4 total people. I understand that it can make things way to easy, but sometimes you have more than 3 friends you want to play with and help with tasks and trying to find them is a challenge. If Squadrons let you have more than 4 in a Wing that would be most excellent.

Yeah, believe me MANY of us agree with you completely - and while Squadrons allow up to 500 they don't work at all like wings - so nothing in this video applies there, it's really just about having a shared tag, seeing the Squadron data (what your faction is doing, etc) - but none of the targeting, nav-lock, etc. works there.

Yep, why wouldn't I? I don't make any judgement on how someone chooses to play a video game so long as they aren't cheating. I don't play like Andy but he doesn't cheat (as far as I know) and simply plays a villain in a video game. So sure, I have him and almost 1000 others on my friend list.

Why wouldn't you play in open? The only time I ever play in solo is if I'm farming someplace, like say the Jameson Crash Site where I can't "share" the instance and have to have it to myself. If someone engages me my builds are strong enough that they are really hard to kill before I can escape and if I die it's a video game, I won't actually be injured in any way. Why would I let anyone else dictate how I play a video game, especially when if you check out my surviving open guide it's rather easy to fly safely - but remember, flying dangerously is FAR more fun!

Yeah, I've debated they "why" behind that before - in that you'd not want to broadcast your position without knowing you were, but isn't that basically the point of being in a wing? It should default to ON and you turn it OFF as it never causes an issue with it being ON, only when someone forgets to turn it ON. If only Frontier actually, I dunno, played Elite they'd realize these things.

Barely used? I'm in a wing almost 75% of the time when I'm not playing just to shoot video so they are critical for me and everyone I play with.
