That +1 range for Kamayuks is backfiring a bit because the organ guns have a minimum range of 1 so when the Kamayuks starting attacking, the organ guns can still fire at them, when this was not the case with non-range infantry.

This unit can combine very well with Halberdiers and Bombard Cannon, the former can protect it from cavalry and the latter from siege, specially the onager/siege onager.

Portuguese were the first civ i played DE with and I had some success with organ guns and bombard cannons. Portuguese theme probably the best aoe2 theme too, wish they were stronger tho. They lack a lot of mobility and their attack is not as good, not really worth the cost and time of making em sadly

I always struggled against mass longbowmen skirmishers combo when they spread around the area. Idk why they don’t excel at this one on one situations.

@@michaelstekelenburg3689 like the previous comments saying, all archers underperform in these tests. In game especially with good players mass archers sometimes seem unstoppable and especially the longbowmen are some of the best UU when you pushing with castles towards the enemy. As long as some meatshields or some siege is in fron they are not even stopped by skirmishers and if you hold them protected under a forward castle you can safly close in on your opponent with nearly nothing to getting stopped.

Organ guns have more damage than archers, fire several projectiles at once and aren't archers o they don't get melted instantly, so actually it's quite logical.

Don't forget the Organ Gun has a spread damage, in which, this little damage can add up very fast if you have more

Organ guns are classified as siege units...so they do melee damage...so the high pierce armour of huskarls don't count...

@@waynewayne8419 Melee units in DE derp out a lot trying to get to their target (you can see this when infantry don't just surround archers and instead stutter back and forth at the front.) This makes them less effective than they used to be against ranged units and has actually impacted pro level play a bit too.

In fact, there isn't even any recorded battle between the Portuguese and the Brazilian Indians, the native populations of Brazil were not as organised as the Mesoamerican and Andean Empires, and just got assimilated quickly with little resistence. The Portuguese "Conquistadores" didn't conquer the new world, but the old. They fought and in Africa (Berbers, Ethiopians, Turks), Arabia (Sarracens), India (Indians, Turks) and Indonesia (Malay). And all of the former already had Guns, Germs and Steel.

Organ gun doesn't use focus fire and hit-run. Also 1 range limit and lack of meat shield is Organ gun weak point.

As the video demonstrates, they are good vs ranged units and infantry but weak to cavarly. So they are a combination of a siege onager and a scorpion but without being as good as either siege weapons. This versatility however is good. Finally, since it is a siege weapon, you have to protect it with some spearman line units.

they excel against melee infantry units and most archer and cavalry archer units (exceptions are elephant archers and war wagons, the elephant balista is not a cavalry archer tho, its a siege elephant). the organ gun is better suit to support your armies like scorpions or onagers, and before the inclusion of a minimum range they were just broken :D my tip is use then together with halberdiers and bombard cannons when attacking or use it as defense in your town. and let your decent cavaliers and super good hand cannonners ruin the enemy army :D

when facing organ gun be aware that they are vulnerable to melee cav, siege units and anti siege. Thats why a good combination is to search arquebus to mitigate that combining with spear units as anti cav and bombard cannon benefiting with arquebus to snipe siege units before engaging organ guns, that and a 20% gold discount on trained units makes even more viable choice
