By the time he ran this London marathon. He had lost once to Wilson kipsang in Berlin marathon 2013 where he placed second. So it was revenge time.

When you are side by side with under a lap, really depends on who has more sprinting speed

@@stevelau7694 it also depends with who has better endurance. You can have better sprinting speed but if you are extremely exhausted and lack energy, then you won't beat him. Good example was lagat vs Bekele in 5k. Lagat had high speed than bekele but often bekele won since his endurance was far superior to that of lagat.
