Okay but I just read about how the lady's maids of Anne Boleyn (another beheaded queen) carried her decapitated body because they were afraid to have any man touch her, in fear of what they'd do to her. ...really puts the "don't you worry honey 'cause I can't say no" line being sung by a decapitated head in a new and horrifying light

It's interesting always seeing how people interpret songs. What i found interesting was the use of phrases and words that people would (and probably still) use to describe someone as basically a fool. The phrase "don't worry your pretty little head" I'm sure many of us have heard before. Usually in a negative way, but the recipient is often portrayed as not noticing it and being a "fool" to the insult. "Hook, line and sinker" is also a phrase used for similar meaning. Might have heard it in more late 1900s movies, where they basically pulled a "fast one" over someone else. Took the bait and the caster got what they wanted. Calling essentially the "catch" the "fool" for falling for an obvious trap. And the more literal lyrics "I'm so, so slow". And then the more morbid parts mixed in with someone constantly being called a fool and outcasted. It reminds me of a disregarded child. The unwanted one. Extremely lonely and unloved, violent tendencies because of it. Used by her siser and her sisters lover because they "can't say no". Whether that be because of nonverbal complications or the desire for just any human interaction and attention. Or maybe it could be a more positive interpretation and that her sisters lover actually does like the singer, but their love is "wrong", which could explain the lyrics "Wanna have your baby, but I'm so, so slow" as a whole. Heck, maybe the singer in this story is special needs. Often a neglected portion of society, especially in the era this song's visual is depicted in. Or just mentally ill to some capacity. Not unheard of just being murdered because of their existence as a "stain" to the family. I like the seeming metaphor with the head though because there's a phrase that's says "you'd lose your head if it wasn't attached to your body". Often meaning as an insult for being dumb, forgetful, aloof and/or even being very mentally ill (kind of like "have you lost your marbles?" type way). And when the head is gone, they really did lose it. Figuratively and literally.

@alexaloga6 жыл бұрын
I'd really like to know what this new interpretation is. Would you share? :)
@quartise086 жыл бұрын
alexaloga Well, the new interpretation is simple, it's based on the video: It's about the body losing its head, in a very literal way. My old interpretation might be more interesting? I was always thinking of a child that lost its mother, either in a literal way (the mother died) or a metaphorical one (the mother doesn't care), the pretty little head is the child, of course. For me, it fitted. Imagine a little child, lying in its bed, but no one comes to wish it a good night and tug it in its blanket? It is motherless either way, and I like this interpretation still more than the one given, funnily I never saw it in this literal way of the body losing its head. That was my old interpretation, I hope you like it! 🌸
@leonmayne7976 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the head represents the child.@@quartise08
