I won’t say it’s a complete waste of time because I learned valuable lessons during my attempt. I did not use two strands which is probably the only reason I was able to recoup my yarn. I did measure the band to the suggested 19” and made it round 20 and that’s when I decided to cal it quits. My decreases left very large gaps with tiny beans between. I tried, tried and tried again, but kept getting the same results. Hats off to the many who were successful!

This has been a challenge for me, only the brim … I have redone it so many times I’ve lost count . I switched to the single then the 1/2 double only to go back and tackle the slip stitch one more time . I am that determined and I just about got it right ! Thank you for this wonderful tutorial and sharing this beautiful beanie ! 💕💕

Try changing hook size. If my hook is too small for the yarn it doesn't go smoothly. You can go back to the recommended size once passed the brim. It might require fewer rows for the brim though so keep that in mind.

Jessica, thank you for sharing. I hope you can help me out with an issue I come across. 🙈 I ended up with 72 stitches, which is the perfect size for me, not tight and not loose, although when it came to the decreasing I have some additional stitches and I really don’t want to undo my beanie. 🥹 I did the doble crochet 5 stitches then decrease and so on, what can I do so I won’t have any extra stitches 2:47 ? Please help, it’s a present. 🙈

How did you adjust for the difference in yarn?
@tarabeck9994 жыл бұрын
@@fiskeygrl I've been doing this nearly 20 years now so I am wild, reckless and mad with hubris --- I did the thing you aren't supposed to do and just eyeballed some quick calculations. lol Don't be me, it's only years of messing up that allows me this nonsense. Swatches are your friend. The gauge is listed in the description, and working up a swatch is a great way to size things out if you're unsure of a gauge. Just work the number of stitches listed and compare your numbers then adjust until they match and stich accordingly. There are some great videos about making swatches and how to use them on here if you're a visual learner. Hope this helps a little!

Hi.. I really love your work and the way you explain the stitches. I'm planning to make this hat for my son. In this video you have mentioned the brim to be about 19 inches. What if it has to be bigger or smaller. Will the bean stitch count of 45 change. Will it affect the work?? Please clarify this doubt.

Hello yes it will! To adjust, just make sure that you have an even multiple of stitches when you work the half double crochet stitches around the brim. Work to the desired height and then start the decrease

When you say “turn your work” does that mean turn it inside out? Sorry if this is super obvious but I am a very beginner and I couldn’t see on the video because it went out of the shot. Thanks! I love the look of this pattern.

“Turn your work” means that in order to begin your new row, you must go back the way you came from. Keep watching video for each new row made by tutor. Also slow down the video to see her technique better. Also mark the first stitch by attaching an old earring or a different color yarn so you recognize where you began. Hope this helps.

To answer the question on where to put your stitches, there is a clear stitch. Looking at your post, you have a stitch on each side. 90 won't fit for stitches because there aren't ENOUGH stitches to go round. I just stitched the correct number per my beanie.
