I don't really see how the monarchy can complain about divorce when their church only exists because a monarch wanted a divorce.

Annulment, not divorce. Questionable whether it was justified (something about her being previously married to his brother), but he it definitely wasn't a divorce.

I heard that the Queen put forth four million of her own money to help with the restoration. Then the decision was made to allow for paying tickets to help with the costs. Never before were outsiders allowed the those halls. The fire changed everything.

It's a bit more complicated. The fire pay for and other royal income changes tax changes were needed to calm public un rest that the royals were sponges in a recession. So, the government came up with a work round. The monarch pays income taxes but not the prince of Wales prize Cornwall properties. And yes, certain properties were officially opened to visitors when the royals were not in attendance.

It was Buckingham Palace that was opened to the public to help pay for the restoration of Windsor. In the longer term, it has been a very successful project.

@@glen7318 Because she was the Queen. The sovereign. The ruler of all the people. People bowed and curtsied and genuflected to HER. To see someone like that on HER knees humbling herself before God is just heartwarming and quite touching. Plus it goes to show that she acknowledges that God IS above her and she knows it.

Notre Dame's fire was such a symbol of the horrid time that has came with the presidence of macron( who's probably behind it, France was furious and constantly rioting against him at this time, what a better distraction:( The 21st century has began with the destruction of the old world by barbaric times/people, what a disturbing era to grow old in: RIP Queen Elizabeth. She was definitely the last Queen of the Western world.

I have binge watch several of these extracts from The Crown. Since the actors and actresses don't look much like the real people, and don't have the correct accents and voice tones, it is often impossible to work out who they are supposed to be. The only one that nailed it was the actor playing Churchill.

A *very* hot lightbulb from a spotlight against a curtain in the Queen's Private Chapel. It was luckily witnessed by Agents of the Royal Household who were in the chapel at the time inspecting the works of art. They managed to save some of the things as someone got the fire brigade

@0:25 she left out or overlooked the fact that the previous generation also believed men of the high classes where seen as having the so-called right to be with other women in a consequence free environment. And the woman, if she were to discover it, was required to be complacent in the name of preserving the marriage. Rather than asserting her authority, ending the charade and allocating her affections to a man worthy of her trust. She also left out that upper class marriages were frequently arranged on the basis of class if not, so called good breeding. As opposed to how it should be, based in mutual trust, desire, and affection.

THEY WANTED TO CREATE THE DREAM; FAIRYTAIL WEDDING- MARRIAGE THE PUBLIC WANTED! DIANA JOINED IN TO BECOME A PRINCESS; THE PRINCESS OF WEALS; AND CHARLES TO FULFIL HIS DUTY: THERE WAS NO LOVE; NO SHARED INTERESTS AND QUITE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR INTELLECTUAL LEVELS.
