Really it's a shame on two counts: a) that they were Avgori and not heavily altered Inika or the like and b) that there was only one wave.

The Metru Nui lines were a flashback, it makes sense they didn't chose one of those characters story wise. The Toa Metru are Turaga now. They could have chosen a Toa Inika but the Piraka already covered that year. It makes sense to have Gresh being the green character, because he was a really important character in the last few years. The onlt character I feel like they could have replaced is Skrall.

I agree, I think Skrall could have been a Vahki or some dark hunter character instead. It would have been cool to see a Bohrok or a Visorak, but those would be hard to represent with the Avtoran build. (Also, I just realized that almost every Bionicle villain team as a "K" in its name.)

I would personally like that because Hewkii is my favorite bionicle, but besides the fact that Hewkii should fill the brown/stone spot, I don't really think he's the most important character of 06-07. Matoro is probably the most important character of those years, but he's dead. I think the spirals was a good choice for the Inika era, but otherwise one of the Barraki or Jovan or Leshovik would have been a good choice. (Or did the Barraki die?)

I honestly would have preferred if the six sets were the Toa Mata. And the golden armor was used to form them into a Toa Nui. The armor would give them the power to fuse but only once. However they armor still gets blasted and each Toa Mata has to go find a piece. Tahu- Golden Hau Kopaka- Golden Shield Onua - Golden Pummel (Nuva Shoulder Armor) Gali, Lewa and Pphatu- Golden Armor plate They would then use the armor to form the Toa Nui and would then use there power to wipe out all the Rahkshi which would end with the same result of Makuta pausing and Mata Nui forcing him into a chunk of Bota Magna. Afterwards they would unfuse and the story would end the same with Tahu holding up the Ignika.

@@0066. I wasn't talking character-wise, just set-wise, it's obvious that Lhikan was an excuse to have a Tahu-like character in Metru form. Good on them for giving him a completely different personality. Though funnily enough, in Russian dubs of the movies, they were voiced by the same guy. He did make them sound distinct from one another (Lhikan was softer-spoken, while Tahu had a harder edge to his voice), but still.

Controversial thing, but I do like that it was Tahu who got the Golden Armor and helped deal the final blow to Makuta. After all, he was the poster boy for Bionicle's golden years and yet he got heavily sidelined starting with 2003, got ganked by PIraka to show off how cool the Inika were and all that, but in this very final story he's got his spotlight back for one final time so that defeating Teridax was a part of his destiny as well.

I was also thinking that Keetongu would be a good 2005 representative to fill in the brown set spot! And I also think it would have been cool to have Matoro. Even though he's dead, maybe he could have been in the form of some life force manifested by the Kanohi Ignika or something. However, I think Takanuva is too valuable a character to replace in the Stars, but I still consider Matoro an honorary Star---definitely the most important character of 2006-2007. As for the Visorak, I think it would be hard to represent it with an Avtoran build. I would suggest a Vahki instead.

Alright, so make Gresh turn into Kongu, and make the Skrall turn into Chirox (Or more accurately, some sort of Makuta that survived Karda Nui), and I think everyone could be relatively happy with the representations. Tahu goes up against the Rahkshi, Takanuva given the color scheme goes up against the Phanstika representative, and then Kongu goes up against Nektan. This still leaves out any prequel year representatives, but unless you wanted to give Tahu some golden feet, or wings or something else that's superfluous, they just wouldn't fit, and also, who would they be since they already had all six colors in the line?

I'm pretty sure I'd either have the Skrall replaced with a Vahki or Visorak or some evil Bohrok or Gresh replaced with one of the Toa Mahri or Hagah. Maybe even a revived Toa Lhikan or Matoro but I think that'd have, although being a nice set, destructive regarding our memory of them. Personally, I have to honestly say I really liked the Stars. They got released when I was ten y/o and I had just started to collect the older sets but could never get my hands on the original Tahu. Understandably -I hope- I was AMAZED by the Stars homage.

You asked, I will answer. These are the characters I would have chosen for Stars line (Legendaries maybe?): Red: Toa Dume - armored metru build Green: Toa Nidhiki - Metru build with green/gold/black colour scheme similar to Lhikan with similarly joinable weapon and new Volitak shape. White: Surel - with new helmet Black: the original Makuta with mask of shadows looking more like the film version Blue: Toa Tuyet - similar build to Lhikan and Nidhiki with similarly joinable weapon Tan: Kabrua - civilised Vorox with new helmet The ratio 3 good to 3 bad is saved, though Kabrua is ambigous. And maybe few titans: Arthaka, Karzahni, Helryx, Lariska, Tren Krom (as ultimate collector's set) and maybe Turaga Jovan and Takanuva as small/promotional sets all with new masks. Not to mention all the regular Toa we still miss as sets: Nikila, Bomonga, Gaaki, Pouks, Kualus, Naho, Varian, Chiara, Orde, Zaria, though the last three could have been the continuation of the theme if it was not cancelled... Actually I should have chosed different characters, because I mixed characters that have never gotten a set release with new characters that could have gotten them if the line was continued, but for what the Stars were the choices were enjoyable. And for Skrall, it might have just been a different individual.

8:50, I like the idea that he and Takanuva are the two most powerful, rather than him singularly. Specifically, It is my belief that Makuta would have had Rakshi of all types present (Why not), not necessarily just on the battlefield but still within range. So Tahu would have gained all 42 Rakshi Powers. Additionally, is my personal belief that there are 42 “Special Powers” among the Av-Matoran, as the story seemed to deliberately set up parallels between Shadow and Light and Makuta vs Takanuva (and by extension the Rakshi and Av-Matoran), especially with the Av Matoran’s special powers. It’s also explicitly stated that with training Takanuva can gain all the powers of the Av-Matoran.

Pretty much the one thing that peeves me about the Stars is that we didn't get a representation of any female characters. Like, in a series where the gender ratio is already skewed 5:1, the sendoff wave can't even bring itself to that end? And the funny thing is, the character pretty much perfect for that was right there, and no one took advantage of that! Why did we need to invent a new "Piraka" who wasn't even part of the original Piraka to represent 06 and 07, when they could have used a blue character that was prominent in both of those years - Hahli? (and yes i'm absolutely playing favorites with this but who cares.) And then to balance out the hero to villain ratio just take out Gresh and replace him with like a Vahki or something. Which, yeah, were completely unmemorable as both sets and characters, but at least it'd cover for another year (or two because Metru Nui and all) being represented.

The Vahki were destroyed when the Visorak invaded Metru Nui. I think the Visorak would work better as a replacement - they could easily be resized to fit with the other Stars, with a smaller head being the only necessary new mold, and it's not like every single Stars set needs to have an Av-Matoran torso......right?...........

Hm, if I had to pick 6 sets to be the last wave, I would remove the part were all of these had a simultaneous appearance during the last battle, they would be entirely iconic or unreleased figures from all the run: (Red) Tahu: the iconic Toa of Fire definitely needs to be, same with the golden armor promotion, I really liked that, he represents 2001. (White) Takanuva: good choice, but I would've liked if they rebooted the 2008 version better, with a normal sized gunmetal mask instead of that huge one from back then. (Blue) Baterra: these were cool, powerful, iconic of 2009 and we knew how they looked like, a new helmet and Mahri Hewkii's kneepads would've been enough to do the trick. (Green) Karzahni: not the Karzahni we got in the set, the original Karzahni, with the twisted mask, he became a very serious threat back in 2007, right before his accident. (Yellow) Nektann: this one was a good choice they fortunately took, the idea of the iconic enemy of 2006; unfortunately their spines aren't compatible with the previous design, and they chose to make him blue while we already had Vezok, I would've loved to have a yellow Skakdi spine. (Black) Teridax (infected Matoran version): this guy was the representation of evil back in the days of MNOG, I think 2002, a gray/black very simple body, but the real deal would've been the inclusion of a part black part orange Kanohi (I'd understand if they couldn't afford hand painted masks again). It would've also been a good way to use the new Hau mold yet again.

I appreciated the Stars both as a conclusion and as sets. They are far from perfect but, I love how the main story even ended. Personally, I think the last wave of g1 Bionicle for me would have been this, Tahu Mata, Gali Nuva (2002), Takanuva, Lewa Nuva (2004 Build), Onua (2005 Hordika build), Pohatu (2006 Inika build), Makuta Teridax (2007 Maxilos inspired build), Kopaka Nuva (2008 build), Gresh (2009), Mata Nui (Robot form for 2010). Alt sets would include: Rahkshi, Vahki, Visorak, and/or improved version of skakdi.

If the stars were made as trophy sets / collectors as a final celebration, I'd choose: Tahu (Red), Matoro (white), boggarak (blue visorak), Rahkshi (black), Gresh (green), and Takanuva (yellow/gold). These cover 1 from each major time period of Bionicle (Takanuva/Rahshi for mata/nuva, Visorak for Metru Nui, Matoro for Inika/Mahri, Tahu for Phantoka/Mistika as well as mata/nuva, and Gresh for Bara Magna) They also cover a majority of pivotal set and story points, while keeping it at 3 heroes and 3 villains. For story purposes, I would only replace Skrall with another villain set, maybe the black visorak. I liked how the story through the stars ended. I didnt really like what the podcasts and such did after that, as I think it just started generating too many mysteries that were left unsolved.

The entire franchise has been leading up to this monumental moment, and basically it goes like this: Tahu: [more or less just makes every single Rahkshi blink out of existence] Makuta (IN GIANT ROBOT FORM): wh-- Mata Nui: [takes this chance to push him in the way of a GIANT FALLING FRAGMENT OF MOON] Makuta: oh. shit. [dies instantly]

I think the only things I would change would be to include Matoro, and perhaps by jigging around which colour of Rahkshi, perhaps Nidhiki or Lesovikk in place of the two 2009 characters, while maintaining the rest of the lineup.

I would’ve picked a Toa Kaita for Tahu’s place, Takanuva would remain, Kresh would be replaced with some sort of mix of the Toa Mahri, and I would add more sets too. This wave needed to be all out and so I think that things should have had at least some diversity with the villains. Examples being different colors for each package, different weapon pieces, different looks, etc.

I like the Stars. Always had a thing for smaller, side-sets, and I find these to suit my tastes. That being said, it would have been better had we gotten something like Matau instead of Gresh and a Barraki instead of Skrall.

I really appreciate the fact that they gave the Piraka an entirely new head piece. The new armor pieces and recolors were a nice touch as well. Would I have liked sets with knees and elbows, you bet your MOUP I would have. But for what we got, and for what the Lego employees for Bionicle were going through at the time, this was a pretty neat way to end.

While also somewhat overlapping, I'd say 2 different options would be to replace Skrall with a Makuta (yes I know they all died, but the story could've been changed to accommodate for this set) or darken Takanuva as light and shadow for the black set and add Matoro as white as a memorial or ghost or something.

I'd change Gresh to Matau Hordika to represent 2004-5. Not sure about Skrall. Maybe change Takanuva so he's black and silver instead of white and silver (would fit the whole "laying low" thing better) and replace Skrall with him, and have the white figure be Matoro Mahri.

If I had my say into what I think the stars wave should’ve been like, I would have swapped out Skrall for the black Bohrok; I believe it was named Onurok? (Correct me if I’m wrong), I would have also added three titan sets; those being Keetongu, Helryx, and Jaller; Keetongu as a representation of 2005, Helryx because of her story importance and lore (I imagine Helryx being a big set like Takanuva 2008, and Toa Mata-Nui), and Jaller Mahri riding on the back of Puku as a reference to Lesovikk, a representation of 2007 and the rahi sets, and the fact that Jaller was Takua/Takanuva’s best friend; it just feels right to have two friends who were both matoran turned toa to fight side by side on what was easily one of the biggest battles known to Bionicle

When I first really got into Bionicle, this was all that was still available in stores. I got one every two weeks or so, and was able to get Gresh, Nektan, and Skrall. I only saw Takanuva once in stores, but I didn't have the money on-hand to buy it. I to this day have not seen Star Tahu. I had plenty of chances to get the Rahkshii, but I was going to get it fourth, and at that point they were sadly all sold out.

It would be great if there were 6 for each team. For the heroes the 6 original toa mata in Glatorian builds. For the Villains: Rahkshi,Piraka,Skrall,Vahki,Barraki, And A Bohrok. They Could Include Takanuva As The 13th Figure. Each Mata Had Their Golden Mask And Each Villain Had A Golden Piece For Tahu Except For One. The Rahkshi,Vahki,And Bohrok Could Have Their OG Builds (Or Be Able To Use Their Special Parts For An OG Build). The Villains Would Have Canisters Similar To Their OG Canisters. The Mata Would Have A Circular Canister And The Wrapping Around It Would Have Rust To Signify The Age Of The Canisters. Just My Idea Of The Stars Re-Done

The thing about all these "better Stars" teams is that it has to be an even 3/3 hero/villain split. I'd say Tahu as red, Takanuva as white, Kongu Mahri or Lesovikk as green, Rahkshi as brown/yellow, Oohnorak as black, and Nektann as blue.

If I were to do this wave I would have it were there was one toa from each wave IU: Tahu, taka nuva, jaller (or maybe bring back Mataro), and Gresh, and keep the villains relatively the same but add some sort of barraki character and a vahki (for some prequel representation) And I feel it goes without saying but obviously give them the inika build (as appose to the matoran build)

I would have made six protagonists, and six antagonists. One of each of the six 'colors'/elements. Fire/Red: Tahu vs Reidak Water/Blue: Hahli vs Vampra Air/Grass: Gresh vs Ehlek Ice/White: Takanuva vs Krika Earth/Black: Toa Onepu vs Roodaka Stone/Brown: Brutaka vs Panrahk A good part of the reason I used mostly the Piraka and afterwards for the baddies is because they felt more like individuals than their predecessors, and because the Bohrok and Rahi wouldn't really fit. Also, I threw Onepu in there because I always liked that little guy, and I couldn't think of a more fitting protagonist for Earth/Black in terms of year representation. Onua could easily be substituted for him if a more obscure character didn't work. Originally, Matau was going to be the hero of air, but he's basically retired and has fulfilled his destiny or whatever.

I think the Skrall should've been replaced by Oohnorak so as to give the flashback years some love (The Visorak were conveniently recreated by Teridax despite the species having been annihilated previously, so it works out). I'd also suggest Roodaka, if it wasn't for the fact that she's meant to be much taller than everyone else in the Stars line. Or maybe Mantax? He wasn't particularly memorable though, so...

My personal choices for who I had made to the Stars. I would make 3 good guys and 3 bad guys to stars. 1 Toa from the 3 groups of toa and 3 villains from the popularest Villains, that means Rahkshi, Piraka and as the third (cause I don't know a third group of Villains as popular as the Rahkshi and Piraka) Visorak, you will see why Visorak. So for the Toa definitely Tahu, he's the most iconic of them all, than Matau (metru) and Matoro (mahri). So my results Red-Tahu (Mata) 'Brown'-Rahkshi (Heat Vision) Green-Matau (Metru) Black-Oohnorak Blue-Piraka (Nektan) White-Matoro (Mahri) Did you understand my logic ;) That's how I had chosen the Stars :D

Personal opinion: I would have preferred that they avoided the brand new sets as well, since this was a "how far we've come" moment. In place of the Skrall I would have preferred a set such as a Borok, Visorak, Vaakhi or even one of the Barraki. (I apologise if I butcher any spelling, it's been a long time.) There was zero representation for Metru or Marhi Nui, despite their importance to the story. As for Gresh, I would have preferred one of the Toa Mahri, or maybe even one of the Hagah. Anything is better than the bigger, better set that you could still buy at the time anyway.

I honestly would've preferred a rerelease of original sets with some recolors. Imagine the original rhakshi build but with yellow and black recolors and potentially new staff/spine pieces. Tahu could have the mata build, and maybe would could get a pearl gold hau in the original mold. takanuva could have the nuva build but with pearl gold avohkii and nuva armor, etc. Not just celebrate the characters, but celebrate the builds, and provide some new pieces that the fans would love.

Honestly for the Stars line, I would replace the black and the green slots with Black- Kopaka Phantoka Green- Karzahni (But the actual mad Toa) Kopaka I say because he would fit the 2008 line up truely and as a character he is one of the original Toa to which many are attached too and would really fit in with everything as a chronicle through the years as one of the original Toa and would represent 2008 Karzahni meanwhile was introduced in story around the time of the end of Metru story and the beginning of the Hordika story, and continuity wise, he doesn't really die and would fit into continuity, plus it would give us his odd mask. He would represent 2003/2004 and would work as the third villain, possibly being a leader instead of Kopaka and would be a good enemy to go against Takanuva in story because he is kind of a devil stand in so Toa of Light vs Toa of Evil, it works.

Hey Eljay I feel that the rahkshi would represent 2004-2005 as anytime the Toa Metru would encounter Rahkshi it seemed that they would have the heat vision power.

Imo they should've had 18 sets representing each year, with 9 sets representing a good and bad side. With 2001 they could have Tahu and a Rahi, or even hiw Makuta appeared in MNOG. With 2002 they could have a redesigned Bohrok and Tahu Nuva, that could come with the infected Hau Nuva from 2003. For 2003 we could have a Rahkshi that is more accurate to Mask of Light, and Have Takanuvu with the glitter mask like in the original set. For 2004 they could have Vakama with the Vahi, and have either a Vahki, Turaga Dume, or Nidihki or Krekka. For 2005 you could have a visorak and Hordika Vakama. For 2006 you can have Matoro and Vezon with the mask of life, or Karzahni with his mask that appeared in the comics. For 2007 you can have any of the Barraki or Mahri, same for 2008 and 2009.
