Video doesn't do it justice. I was just bull elk hunting with my dad and these animals are absolutely incredible. Heard and saw tons of elk. Up close in person the sound is absolutely incredible. We finished up and harvested a nice bull elk 6x6. Did you know the bugle is literally a tube in their throat that feels like plastic. These animals are amazing
@WildlifeOnVideo3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are amazing.. and we agree that one needs to see it in nature. We have a little bit better sound pickup now(a bugling vid from just a few days ago).. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZaklWucjdh2gq8 Thank you for your support TS!

Highly surprised by the soprano pitch of the sound... more like air squeaking out of a balloon than a bellow.. I expected some deep horn sort of sound
@hikotai19253 жыл бұрын
No videos actually capture the sound well... The high pitch is very high pitch, but what doesn't transfer well is the Staccato in the high pitched sound, also the low pitch is just as loud but extremely bass like. The way technology records sound it mutes both sounds, it is disappointing because this sound is one of my favorites from my childhood.
@WildlifeOnVideo3 жыл бұрын
It is tricky to end up with anything that includes the deep Bass tones, yes. We only have a few instances with it so far, but hope to catch much more of it right away. Please keep a look out on our newer videos as we have added some tools to help catch better audio.

So one time I was camping out on the Mogollon Rim in Arizona, and I heard this whistle/flute noise coming from the woods. It sounded slightly like an elk, but it was all smooth sounding like a flute, and the notes were more like a song. There was absolutely no scream sound to it. Anybody know what this might’ve been? I knew by the sound that it wasn’t a human, definitely was not a bird, and it was around 2 or 3 o’clock in the morning. It sounded so much like a song that at first I thought it was a person whistling in the woods, but the noise was just too perfect, to clear, and didn’t really follow any pattern. It also sounded like it came from way bigger lungs. It also went too high for a human, sometimes it would just be a quiet, soft whistle, with not a lot of notes. Other times, however, most of the time, it was pretty loud with a lot of tones ranging high and low and as I said very clear and, and very even.

Look up skinwalker stories. I don’t know if that’s an area where they’re prevalent but there have been many sightings around Arizona.

If the Merriam elk is still a valid taxonomic species (it is not, but there are like 2 specimens collected on the past, so is possible) that may be a merriam elk, a subspecies believed to be extinct on arizona.

Look at the necks of the male bull elks compared to the female cows. Their necks are thick and muscular, at least a half size larger than the females’. And their coloring is darker and masculine too.
