The legacy of Elk Fever all started in September 1986. Larry D. Jones, Dwight Schuh, and Larry’s son, Steven Jones, and cameraman Neil Rodgers hunted Oregon and Idaho for 40 days and captured elk and elk hunting footage. After the season’s countless miles in elk country, Larry labored over 100 hours to edit and produce Elk Fever.
His vision for Elk Fever was to share the adventure of hunting elk with a bow and arrow in God’s great mountains.
The deep friendship and hunting adventures Larry shared with Dwight Schuh over the last 4 decades has influenced Larry's elk hunting passion more than anyone. Dwights’s participation in Elk Fever and Elk Fever II video’s, his book “Bugling for Elk” and sharing his elk adventures in Bowhunter Magazine, and now Elk Fever III has created a burning desire in scores of hunters to hunt and call these majestic elk. Dwight died, February 5, 2019 after fighting multiple Myeloma for years, but his passion is still alive through his writings, Elk Fever, Elk Fever II and Elk Fever III.
Now almost 30 years later, we as elk hunters want to celebrate those who have began their journey and finished it, leaving us with a greater passion for the outdoors and all we have to cherish with elk hunting. Elk Fever III is a tribute to the Elk Fever legacy and all the more to elk hunters alike.
RMEF and Yeti are honored to present the final film, Elk Fever III by CANA, for all who cherish the adventure of elk hunting.

What a fantastic story of friendship and conservation. My fathers greatest gift to me was the outdoors and I made Elk Hunting and calling my passion. My father and I would always sit and talk about elk and calling for elk and this video just brought back all those meaningful memories. Larry I'm sorry for your loss of a great friend and hunting partner. May we all take a little memory of Dwight with us this year and share with him our moments of adventure.

I can remember the first time I ever watched elk fever, I was a teen age boy in the Midwest just getting into bowhunting. Dwight and Larry introduced me to an area of the country and an animal that I had no idea of existance, their down to earth approach and passion for archery was such an inspiration and still is today. Thank you Dwight and Larry for your dedication. RIP Dwight.

I don't know if I want to laugh or cry? I've experienced all the same feelings presented by these great films. These guys have been inspirational to my elk hunting career, same values handed down to me from my father and hunting buddies. Hopefully Dwight is slaying them in Heaven the way I hope all of us will be doing once gone. When you loose your hunting buddy it's hard to recover but being out in the beautiful outdoors can cure most of it, not that the good times won't be remembered!

These are 2 of the first guys that really worked hard to make hunting videos so other hunters could share in their experiences. Some of the first pioneers of the hunting film industry of today . I've watched and enjoyed so many of those videos ! I just want to say thank you for putting together Elk Fever III . Brings back memories of my brothers , Dad , and myself renting these videos . We enjoyed them so much . Sometimes they might get watched 2 or 3 times before we took them back . Larry hunted with a local hunter and bow shop owner in Redding California ( Cliff Dewell ) . They made a hog hunting video together . Enjoyed it a bunch as well. RIP DS and thank you for your lifetime of contributions of time and effort for the sport of hunting .

What a trip back. I was a bowhunter since the 60s and had taken several deer but had never felt prepared enough for ELK. The original ELK Fever video was silly in spots but the love of the hunt and comradarie was strong. Larry and Dwight helped many of us elevate our game and accept the challenge of bowhunting ELK.

I was so happy to hear about this project! In 1993 I went to work for Larry at Wilderness Sound Productions. Filming, making hunting videos, designing calls, and hunting with Larry consumed my life, and those memories are truly priceless. He was my mentor and remains a close friend today. The first film, Elk Fever, was the stuff dreams were made of and I would argue that no other hunting video had more influence on a generation of elk hunters. Dwight's influence will continue in those who he inspired through his writings. And Larry is still out there with a recurve, living the dream we call bowhunting.

Thank you for your part in bringing everything to us Tom. I grew up in N Eugene and always felt a kinship with Larry D, and was friends with Dave Doran who was in the Hunting High Mule Deer video and book. We dedicated bowhunters are a small group and I pray the passion gets passed along. ELK Fever III is a good start.

I really enjoyed this video, Not so much for the Elk kills, but for two men that really get the most out of being outdoors, I used to Hunt Bighorn Sheep out in Empire Valley British Columbia, never arrowed a Big Ram, but those Solo hunts were more about Communion and just the pleasure of being out in that beautiful environment! Also remember we shared the same Mountain range with Larry, Hunting goats at Eureka Peak Mnt. North of 100 mile house BC Canada, I believe, it was in 1990. Larry was hunting with Eureka Peak Outfitters. I too like Mr, Jones, love using just a bent Stick, Arrows and hopefully good instincts. Larry and Dwight are and were Good Men. Wish you all the best. Condolences to Dwight, and his family.
