The Horse Whisperer reports that in deer, elk and horse herds, the males THINK they run things, but the females really run things (top doe/filly directing traffic, where they're going, when they're going and keeping the young ones in line). And the body language for deer and horses is exactly the same, only more subtle in deer. After he learned "horse talk," he applied lessons learned to deer. Befriended a local herd of deer, as I recall.
@francisconti90852 жыл бұрын
Haha, yup..Matriarchs are primarily in charge.. 20 years with deer, they are similar but very different from horses in ways..I love my deer family, they have taught me so much about their language, development, tactics and diet that I never found in acedemia..they are amazing animals .. we work together & I support the matriarch with little conveniences such as trail/bedding area maintenance. Where I put leaf piles, where I put $2 bag of Walmart generic topsoil, & offering a Himalayan salt block for sodium, iodide, and minerals helps their health AND they destroy the stumps I put the block on.. My Matriarch is head of security, does a daily forensic check of the property, has busted & tracked multiple trespassers who have "mucked around", vandalized, or stolen items from the property..she tracked down someone who stole plants from our garden.... she also singled out a young boy who made a fort on the property while she was away..THAT got her riledup!! I laughed, I knew who did it, but she investigated that neighborhood family..singled out the little boy (out of the siblings, neighbor boy, parents) When anything changes, she's on it, blowing & referencing, investigating! Gotta love them! As good as a K9 in ways!
