I have a white Panther 300 my parents bought used in early 1969 for me, I believe it was purchased by the original owner in 1967, it was stored away in my basement closet for nearly 30 years and I finally had it restored in 2009, it's still playing great and yes, they were one of the best single manual combo organs of their day.

Finally. *This* is the instrument Vangelis used to get the faux string synth sounds heard on his earliest solo work like L'Apocalypse des animaux . I've been searching everywhere to find out where he was able to get sounds so far ahead of the time (1970).

Thanks for talking about your restoration methods in such detail. This is really very helpful.

The plastic cover on this organ reacts with a vinyl pouch inside the carrying case lid and that's what causes the damage to the surface of the lid mentioned by the reviewer. Take the pouch out of the lid, or put a towel over the top of the organ before you close the lid to protect the plastic surface. I have one of these organs; and I love it!

I love her voice. I've grown not much away from Castelfidardo (Italy) where - I guess - this organ was made. This is a great show!

It looks and sounds amazing. Nice to see old instruments in such good condition 👍

As a side note, in those days they didn't expect a combo organ to sound like real strings, flutes or brass like we do today with sample playback keyboards; it was just borrowed from classic organ stops that ment how many pitches where played in each key.

IT LOOKS LIKE A GERMAN TANK. ITS ALL GREY. GREY AND UGLY. AND ITS HUGE! I LOVE IT.

There is something about these old organs... I had one when I was young and regret I lost it.

I had the elka Panther 100 since I was 10, due to the broken hammers i gave it away 13 years ago, regret it. now 3d printing could have resolve the problem.

Cool instrument. FYI, from the pipe organ world the Mixture on these doesn’t refer to tweaking the mix - it’s a stop consisting of multiple short pipes (usually at 2 2/3, 2, 1 3/5 or 1 ft) that adds sparkle to the tonal ensemble.

"Girl... I heard you're getting married. Heard you're getting married, this time you're really sure. And this is the end; they say you really mean it. This guy's the one that makes you feel, so safe, so sane and so secure..." That's the organ...

This organ is much better than the famous Vox organs as it offers much wider sound possibilities.
@BellToneSynthWorks7 жыл бұрын
totally agreed!

You're wrong! The Vox is orange, which is more powerful than grey.

Once fully restored the Panther 300 is much more reliable than a Vox Continental, I own 5 Panther.s and 2 Continental,s
@wraitheful Жыл бұрын
My continental is recording perfection, but it’s pristine and stays covered always. This organ sounds fantastic; so glad to hear how robust it is! (I’d still baby it)

The Panther also came in a gorgeous bright red. Oh…and if you can’t afford to buy one, there’s a killer software plug-in version by Martinic.

That Organ sounds beautiful! & very versatile! I take it the grey section of the keys can either be bass or upper, & you just flick a switch to choose the key ranges you want?

when women do demos they actually show your the features instead of trying to prove to you how sick they are at playing. so refreshing

Not sure that there is a consistent, observable disparity in the organ demonstration approach between the 2 sexes, but irrespective of that, I'd rather hear it played a lot, switching through all of the features but no talking at all, so that I can hear everything myself. If I want to learn details about the features, I can always look it up later, as that is guaranteed to be well documented, but hearing the tones that the organ it is capable of is the reason I watch videos like this.

Even the Fender organ was made by Italians. Dunno why, but once in a while those dudes end up being the absolute masters of some weird tech. In the 90’s it was molded plastic speakers.
