The truth is GEM made the first Vox Jaguars in '66 '67, wich were the same as the model P internally and soundwise. The Jumbo GEM came out in '68 and originally sounded more like it's smaller version the Mini GEM, as it only had 2 dividers per tone generator then. This one in the video is from the early 70's (ca. '71) and at this point it had 3 dividers per generator, just like the Jaguar and model P, so it sounds indentical.

Best cover of "backwards" EVER

Nice! These were made at the same factory the early VOX Continentals were made at. That is why they sound so much alike I'm guessing. Great playing and great organ man!

Very cool. I just picked up a Jag on eBay, should be here soon. Ironic that one of the best videos to demo the sound isn’t a Vox Jaguar 🐆 at all ;-).

So if a Vox Continental and a Farfisa Compact Deluxe had a baby? Sounds right in the middle!
@mewrth9 жыл бұрын
Basically, the differences between a Jaguar and a Jumbo are that the GEM has a built-in amp/speaker, vibrato speed, and packs in one case. the Vox has a bass volume and output, and packs in two cases. Otherwise the sound is virtually identical (except early Jumbos) and only the bass sections operate differently. Voilà! :)
@Jimmyhaflinger6 жыл бұрын
I think the jaguar is based on discrete transistors while the jumbo has integrated circuits

Really nice demo of this combo organ! I have the grey one at my home. ;) How do you do the "GH Effects"? With an effect pedal? Thanks a lot!
@itaidodo10 жыл бұрын
hi jules! the GH stands for greenhouse effects - a hand made guitar effect pedal company I used a custom made overdrive called "goldrive" sounds great with analog keyboards / as seen on the GH website gheffects.com/#section5 you can watch the pedal in use on a hohner pianet at the link below אולפן אקליפס - תיקון פסנתר חשמלי hohner pianet T & greenhouse effects cheers!

sorry I don't... isn't there anything online?
@vintageaudioworkshop8 жыл бұрын

@joeatko19909 жыл бұрын
can you amp this up? or would you have to close mic the speaker on top for a live show?
@mewrth9 жыл бұрын
joe atkinson Yes. It has an 'ext. amp' output jack located near the AC socket. Rigging it doesn't mute the internal speaker though, only way to do that is to adjust the inner amp volume pot (under the hood) to zero.
@mewrth9 жыл бұрын
joe atkinson Note that the hood is easy to open up, as it's fastened with hand/coin bolts, so you don't need a screwdriver
