I had no idea that anyone other than Streisand had done this. I am a singer, and a huge Streisand fan and I absolutely LOVE this!! I think both singers caught the funky side of this song and each presented their own groove. Every artist feels it differently. If I were ever to do this, it would probably sound like a hybrid between the two, lol.

I think it's so boring when people start comparing. It as beautiful as Streisand's, for they've got different styles and approach to the song.

I expect she’d draw the line at my underpants. Everyone has their limits. This is my favourite album sleeve along with How Dare You? by 10cc. Great composition and a hint of intrigue.

I'd love this I think it's fantastic! There is absolutely no point in comparing it to Streisand. She had a whole different take as a mature woman . Streisand's version is stellar , but so is this . That's like comparing The Osmond Brothers to the Manhattan Transfer. Get real people.
What a great Leiber/Stoller song - and a strong rootsy vocal too. The production here might sound of its time (mid70s) but by comparison, the Streisand version is utterly sexless and sterile. Streisand even sanitised the lyric. In this, the original, the clothes "smell like you". Must've been too earthy for Babs cos she substituted "smell" for "feel". No doubt redolent of Ariel.

Jean Ray also know as Jean Glover from the Folk/Rock duo Jim & Jean of the 1960s wrote this song. Lieber & Stoller came In As publishers. I’m Jean sister. She died in 2007.

@@4craycray Wow - thank you Caroline - really good to know. Then Jean wrote a truly great song with a bold provocative lyric.

@@HowardVause She sang it too in clubs around LA. I always liked her version the best. Jean had an amazing voice.

Much better than the Streisand cover. Brooks voice is more interesting

Sorry, this version is too forced....too rehearsed. I can't make a connection with her as an actor. Streisand delivers this version in ways that cannot be found here. There is just not enough sexuality here. It is 70's schlock. Not realized like it could be. Streisand, clearly, knew that this could be better...and so it is done.

Elkie Brooks brings so much more than Streisand to this. It was produced by Lieber an Stoller.

it is my first time to hear her version. I did not know this singer has existed. Barbra streisand version is far more superior in terms of voice and delivery. Elvie is like singer inside the ground full of cow's feces.
